Clarksville’s Fort Defiance Interpretive Center to hold book signing featuring author Beverly Fisher
Clarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host a book signing event on Saturday, September 7th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
Author Beverly Fisher will be available to sign copies of her novella, “Grace Among the Leavings” which gives a wonderful insight of the life of a young girl living in the south during the Civil War.
Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for August 22nd through August 25th, 2013
Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.

Clarksville based Convenient Care Inc. expands into Kentucky
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville based Convenient Car Care Inc. recently completed it’s acquisition of several Kentucky franchises, expanding it’s number of operating Valvoline Instant Oil Change facilities to 16 in the Tennessee and Kentucky region. The company finalized the purchase of three Valvoline franchises in Owensboro KY in the spring of 2013.

Clarksville, TN – Fed tapering concerns continued to weigh against the stock market and helped push long-term interest rate higher. There’s a growing consensus that we will see some reduction in the rate of asset purchases announced next month, but the first move may be a small one, as a compromise among divided Fed officials and as a means of testing market reactions to tapering.
The market reaction to the tapering talk is still a puzzle. Tapering is not tightening and the Fed will continue to support the recovery through its guidance on short-term interest rates. However, long-term interest rates are normally going to rise as an economic recovery progresses.
Five CMCSS Schools Recognized in Tennessee’s Top 5 Percent

Clarksville, TN – Artist Beverly Parker will teach participants how to print Polaroid Transfers in the September First Saturday Workshop offered by the Clarksville/Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council.
Parker, whose works are collected by regional institutions as well as private individuals, is donating from her own cache of Polaroid film, no longer manufactured, so that workshoppers can produce a piece of art using material that will soon be unavailable to artists. [Read more]
