Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for July 21st through July 27th, 2013

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.

Upcoming events include: Night Hike, Spiders, National Moth Week, Kids Nature Games, Cooling at the Cave and so much more!

Governors Square MallClarksville, TN – This weekend, Governor’s Square Mall will be hosting its first ever Comic and Sci-Fi Show presented by Comic City Conventions.

The show will start Friday, July 19th at 10:00am going through Sunday and will take place near the Food Court across from Harris Jewelry. This event is free to the public and features comic, toy and anime vendors.

“Brave” is about Princess Merida defying a custom that ends up bringing chaos to her kingdom. Merida uses her archery skills and bravery to undo the curse.

Clarksville’s Russ Shemberger wins overall male title at Triathlon in West Kentucky

Restore Performance MassageClarksville, TN – Russ Shemberger, a licensed sports massage therapist at Restore Performance Massage on Madison Street in Clarksville, won overall male in the first Twin Lakes Triathlon held Saturday, July 13th at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park in Calvert City, KY.

Shemberger finished the 800-yard swim, 14-mile bike and 3.1-mile run in 1:13:30, posting the best time among a field of approximately 80 other triathletes.

Scott J. Brown Ph.D., Chief Economist Raymond James Investment ServicesFed Chairman Bernanke said nothing new, but the markets interpreted his comments as “dovish.” In Q&A following a speech on the history of the Fed, Bernanke said that given the high level of joblessness and low inflation, “you can only conclude that a highly accommodative monetary policy is needed.”

He also conceded that “there is some prospective gradual change in the mix of instruments, but that shouldn’t be confused with the overall thrust of policy, which is highly accommodative.” That’s consistent with the Fed beginning to lower the rate of asset purchases later this year and maintaining low short-term interest rates for a long time (well into 2015).

The June 18th-19th FOMC minutes showed that “many members indicated that further improvement in the outlook for the labor market would be required before it would be appropriate to slow the pace of asset purchases.” However, “several members judged that a reduction in asset purchases would likely soon be warranted.” [Read more]

Montgomery County announces RichEllen Park Groundbreaking Ceremony July 30th

Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government will host a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new RichEllen Park on Tuesday, July 30th at 9:00am.

The park is located in the Palmyra area of Montgomery County off Highway 149, approximately 2 miles past Hilltop Super Market. The public is invited to attend.

The park land consists of approximately 50 acres and was purchased in 2010 for the creation of a recreational facility.

Subdued Few Motorcycle Club to hold Memorial Ride for 19 Fallen Arizona Firemen

Subdued Few Motorcycle Club - Woodlawn, TNWoodlawn, TN – On Saturday, July 20th, Subdued Few Motorcycle Club is having a Memorial and Benefit Ride for Prescott 19. Subdued Few is riding to show their support for the brave men of the Arizona Hotshot Crew, and to raise money for the Wild Land Fire Service. Registration is from 9:00am until 11:00am.

The ride will start at Texas Casual Grill located on Trenton Road in Clarksville, TN at 11:00am and will end at Bo’s Cycle Shop. The ride will go past various fire stations on the route through Clarksville, TN, Cadiz, KY and through Hopkinsville, KY. Approximate arrival time of bikes at Bo’s Cycle shop is around 2:00pm.
