Clarksville Foundry and Local Artist Showcase History in Sculpture Exhibit at Customs House Museum
Clarksville, TN — It may be unusual for an artist and an iron foundry president to join together in a unique cultural endeavor. Then again, there is nothing usual about Clarksville sculptor Mike Andrews‘ “New Old Stock” exhibit at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center.
The relationship between Andrews and the Clarksville Foundry began in 1983 after he visited the historic manufacturing company as a student of Tennessee artist Olen Bryant.

The economic data reports were expected to be a series of tough hurdles for the stock market, but they ended up more like minor speed bumps. Share prices continued to rally broadly. The bond market was volatile, as investors debated when the Fed may begin to taper its asset purchases.
Retail sales results for April were better than anticipated – not strong, but not as bad as feared. Industrial production was weaker than expected. Residential construction figures were mixed, reflecting a high degree of volatility in the multi-family sector and continued strength in single-family homebuilding. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts to host 9th Annual Clarksville Writers Conference
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Council is partnering with the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, the APSU President’s Office and the Tennessee Arts Commission to once again bring acclaimed authors and poets to town for the Ninth Annual Clarksville Writers Conference.
The event will be June 6th and 7th at the APSU Morgan University Center.

Fort Defiance plans to “March to the Past” this Summer
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and the Friends of Fort Defiance will host the “March to the Past” event on Saturday, June 8th from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday, June 9th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street.

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, May 18th, Clarksville based author Toni Aleo will be signing print-on-demand versions of her books at Hastings from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.
Toni Aleo is a publishing dream. Toni started out as a self-published author of three hockey romances; “Trying To Score”, “Taking Shots”, and “Empty Net”, centered around the fictional Nashville Assassins hockey team.

Clarksville Downtown Market to Open Saturday, May 18th
Clarksville, TN – When the 2013 Clarksville Downtown Market opens on Saturday, May 18th, approximately 70 vendors will be on hand to offer local fresh produce, baked goods, local honey, milk, home décor, seasonal flowers and more. The Clarksville Downtown Market will be open from 8:00am to 1:00pm every Saturday through October 19th on Public Square.

Montgomery County, TN – Red Knight Distribution, the operations center for Furniture Connection and Furniture 123 in Clarksville, is the latest company to become Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified.
Prior to their recent green ribbon cutting, Red Knight Team Member Ashleigh Sympson explained that owner David Berggren saw the benefits in constructing an energy efficient building and said the building was made to be efficient.

Austin Peay State University Breast Cancer Awareness 5K raises $3,375 to American Cancer Society
Clarksville, TN – On an early Saturday morning April 13th, more than 200 runners joined forces to race in the Breast Cancer Awareness 5K race organized by a number of offices at Austin Peay State University.
Some of them walked away with top finisher awards, but all of them played a part in raising $3,375 to the American Cancer Society.
