Customs House Museum receives $500k donation from Clarksville Jaycees Foundation for new exhibit “Becoming Clarksville: Honoring Legacies of Leadership”
Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is proud to announce that Heritage Hall, the museum’s main exhibit gallery in the 1898 Customs House building will be named in honor of the Clarksville Jaycees Foundation.
Jerry Cooksey joins Executive Team at First Advantage Bank
Former Chattanooga Banker Named Interim CFO for Growing Mid-State Bank
Clarksville, TN – Jerry Cooksey has joined the executive management team at First Advantage Bank. He will oversee all of the bank’s financial operations, including accounting and financial reporting, and regulatory compliance as acting Chief Financial Officer.
Lydia Walker sings Songs of the Christmas Season
Clarksville, TN – Local vocalist and musician Lydia Walker will present a two-hour performance of Christmas carols and secular music at Freedom Deli on December 22nd from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
“The performance is our Christmas gift to our customers,” said deli owner John Matagrano. This will be Walker’s second performance at that location.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department hiring Part Time Associate Historical Interpreter
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for the part-time Associate Historical Interpreter position.
The Associate Historical Interpreter will assist the Historical Interpreter with leading tours at Fort Defiance and in the daily operation of the Interpretive Center and park site. [Read more]
Christmas Down Home returns to Clarksville
Clarksville, TN – This Holiday season David Alford and Paul Carrol Binkley bring their much-loved heartwarming rendition of Truman Capote’s “A Christmas Memory” in Christmas Down Home back to APSU.
The show is a collection of Holiday stories, memories, and music from a simpler time born out of a previous show Alford and Binkley helped create called A Southern Christmas Sampler which was performed 1995-1999 in Nashville, TN.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department hosts a new session of Youth Hip Hop and Jazz dance program
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is offering a new session of their Hip Hop and Jazz dance program at the Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, for ages 5-16 years.
Hip Hop and Jazz will begin January 9th and will be divided into classes for 5-7 years, 8-11 years and 12-16 years. [Read more]
APSU employees share recent plaudits
Austin Peay State University
Clarksville, TN – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced publications or conferences attended as part of their professional and scholarly activities.
Beth Liggett, University photographer, had her photograph “Road Trip” accepted into the professional experimental and alternative processes category of the 2013 Downtown Artist’s Co-op Regional Photography Exposition. The exposition will open with a reception at 5:00pm, January 3rd and will remain open for viewing through February 1st at the Clarksville Downtown Artist’s Co-op, 96 Franklin Street. [Read more]
Operation Eagles Nest needs Christmas Holiday support for Fort Campbell families
Clarksville TN – With the Christmas season comes the needs of others, and there’s no better way to help than reaching out to the families of our soldiers. The needs of military family’s has never been greater than during the holidays.
Operation Eagles Nest depends on the generosity of others to support the families of Fort Campbell soldiers who are deployed during this special time of the year. While fighting for our freedom, a soldier must also worry about his loved ones back home.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Facilities to change Hours for December Holidays
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s three community centers will adjust their hours of operation this December to accommodate students in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and their holiday schedule.
The Kleeman Community Center, Crow Community Center and Burt-Cobb Community Center will be open from 10:00am to 7:00pm beginning Thursday, December 20th and ending Friday, January 4th, 2013 as students will be out of school for the holiday break. [Read more]
