Entry Deadline for the 53rd Annual Christmas Parade is quickly approaching
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Montgomery County Government have partnered along with Agero to host the 53rd Annual Christmas Parade. The parade, a night-time, lighted Christmas parade, is scheduled for December 1st, 2012 beginning at 5:00pm.
Santa Claus is arriving Saturday at Governor’s Square Mall
Santa’s Arrival To Include Story Time With Santa, A Visit From Mouse (If You Give A Mouse A Cookie) And Children’s Activities
Clarksville, TN – Santa Claus will be arriving at Governor’s Square Mall this Saturday, November 17th. At 10:00am, Santa will be arriving at Center Court on the Apple Express train. He will be joined by Mouse (If You Give a Mouse a Cookie) and the Great American Cookies mascot.
Santa will be reading a holiday story and there will be children’s activities from 10:00am-12:00pm. The activities will include a paper ornament decorating station, where children can decorate an ornament that will be displayed on our community board for the season. [Read more]
APSU Provost Lecture Series to discuss Axis POWs
Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University history faculty member whose research focuses on prisoners of war (POW) will talk about the Axis POWs held in the U.S. during World War II as part of the next Provost Lecture Series at APSU.
Dr. Antonio Thompson, associate professor of history, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, November 15th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. All sessions of the Provost Lecture Series are free and open to the public. [Read more]
Visit with Santa and enjoy free activities at Christmas on the Cumberland
Clarksville, TN – Kids of all ages are encouraged to come to Christmas on the Cumberland for fun, family friendly activities. Christmas on the Cumberland is open nightly from 5:00pm-10:00pm, Sunday through Thursday and 5:00pm-11:00pm, Fridays and Saturdays through January 5th, 2013.
Admission to the event is free.
Friends of Fort Defiance Civil War Ball to be held January 12th, 2013
Clarksville, TN – The Friends of Fort Defiance would like to invite you to a Civil War Ball in support of the Fort Defiance Interpretive and Visitors Center, a beautiful facility located on the site of Fort Defiance’s earth works in Clarksville.
It was opened in April of 2011. If you have not had the opportunity to visit there as yet, we encourage you to do so. It is truly an impressive facility.
Kleeman Community Center hosts first-ever Diabetes Awareness Expo, November 19th

APSU faculty and students attend National Science Foundation workshop in Knoxville Tennessee

Scientific jargon and technical terms often bog down interviews and simple conversations, occasionally leaving people more confused than when they started listening to these individuals.
On November 7th, a group of Austin Peay State University faculty members and students traveled to Knoxville for a National Science Foundation workshop that addressed this exact problem. [Read more]

Montgomery Central Elementary School’s 2nd annual Veteran’s Day Celebration
Cunningham, TN – On Friday, November 9th, 2012, Montgomery Central Elementary School held their 2nd annual “Veteran’s Day Celebration” to salute our Military in honor of Veteran’s Day. All of the students participated in the event with group performances as well as grade level performances.
The celebration started at 9:00am in the MCES gymnasium. Several veterans and current members of the Armed Services were on hand to be honored. The students were wearing lots of red, white and blue colors.
APSU choral activities hosting 3rd annual Holiday Dinner December 1st
Clarksville, TN – In the summer of 2010, Dr. Korre Foster, Austin Peay State University assistant professor of music, traveled to the eastern European country of Latvia in search of choral music. He went on this journey after meeting Baiba Kelley, a local woman of Latvian descent who yearned to again hear the music of her native country.
