Austin Peay Students gain valuable experience with help of new 3-D Printers
Clarksville, TN – Students enrolled in the engineering technology degree program at the Austin Peay Center at Fort Campbell may be amazed to see the colorful, three-dimensional objects they create using new specialized machines.
However, they are gaining a lot more. The new state-of-the-art three-dimensional (3-D) printers are the tools used in the automotive and manufacturing industries, such as aerospace, medical, product design and small quantity commercial product manufacturing. This means students are getting the knowledge they need to use in the workforce.

Excell Baptist Church to hold Vacation Bible School starting July 23rd
Clarksville, TN – Excell Baptist Church announces it Vacation Bible School to be held each evening from 6:30pm until 8:00pm Monday, July 23rd through Friday, July 27th, 2012 at Excell Baptist Church, 328 Excell Road, Clarksville, TN.
Children from Kindergarten through Grade 5 are invited to this 5-Day Club: “Knowing Christ”. Preregistration is Saturday, July 21st, 2012 at the church from noon until 2:00pm.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for July 15th through July 21st
Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer.

Clarksville’s Civil War Roundtable presents Ed Bearss at the Customs House Museum July 18th
Clarksville, TN – On Wednesday, July 18th, Clarksville’s Civil War Roundtable group will host a fundraiser at the Customs House Museum. The event will feature retired Chief Historian of the National Park Service, Ed Bearss, who will be presenting a lecture in the Museum’s Turner Auditorium at 7:00pm.
Ed is a combat wounded U.S. Marine who joined the National Park Service in the 1950s. Starting out at Vicksburg National Military Park as its historian, he rose to be the Chief Historian of the National Park Service and is retired from there as Chief Historian Emeritus. Ed is the most popular speaker on the Civil War lecture circuit today and is world renowned as a battlefield guide. [Read more]
Mt Olive Historical Preservation Society and the Darden Foundation Partner to Advance Brandon Hill Youth Heritage Garden
Grant is one of nearly 900 to be awarded through the inaugural Darden Restaurant Community Grants Program
Clarksville, TN – Mt Olive Historical Preservation Society has received a $2000 grant as part of the inaugural Restaurant Community Grant Program from the Darden Foundation, the charitable arm of Darden Restaurants Inc.
The Restaurant Community Grant Program is a local grants program intended to help support nonprofit organizations in the hundreds of communities Darden and its restaurant brands serve. The donation will enable Mt Olive Society’s Brandon Hill Youth Heritage Garden program to reach scores of young people in the Montgomery County community.

Happy Days at the Roxy Regional Theatre starting July 12th
Clarksville, TN – Goodbye gray skies, hello blue! Happy days are here again with Arthur “The Fonz” Fonzarelli, Richie, Potsie, Ralph Malph and all of the gang in the Roxy Regional Theatre’s production of “Happy Days”, opening Thursday July 12th, at 7:00pm.
This new musical based on the hit television series reintroduces one of America’s best-loved families, the Cunninghams, to a whole new generation, taking audiences back to the days of 1959 Milwaukee, complete with varsity sweaters, hula hoops and jukebox sock-hoppin’.
The Art of Linda Kerlin Opens at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center
Clarksville, TN – Visions & Feelings, a new exhibit by Tennessee artist Linda Kerlin embodies a sense of the fanciful. Delicate women collaged into a mixed media frenzy of color and script leads the viewer feeling like they have stumbled into someone’s diary.
These works are inspired by Kerlin’s environment and her love of antiques, decorating, and landscaping. Each painting displayed in the museum’s Harvill Gallery certainly is telling stories within the canvas and paper. [Read more]

The economic data were disappointing, but generally consistent with moderate growth in the near term. Nonfarm payrolls rose by a disappointing 80,000 in June, not far from the median forecast of +100,000. Seasonal adjustment is difficult in June, so one should take the figure with a grain of salt. However, it does raise concerns that uncertainties (the election, the fiscal cliff, Europe) may be weighing against new hiring.
There were a number of positive elements in the report. Average weekly hours advanced. Hourly and weekly earnings are now outpacing inflation, which should provide some support for consumer spending growth in the near term. Temp help employment continued to rise, suggesting that employers are still somewhat cautious, but such a rise typically presages a pickup in permanent hiring. [Read more]

A League of Their Own plays Tonight at Movies in the Park
