Market Commentary by Scott J. Brown, Ph.D., Chief Economist
Recent economic data have remained consistent with a moderate pace of economic growth in the near term. Europe and the fiscal cliff remain the two key uncertainties and the major downside risks to the growth outlook. Responding to these downside risks, the Federal Reserve extended Operation Twist through the end of the year.

Montgomery County Health Department will be doing Dental Screenings for Children at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library July 18th
Clarksville, TN – On Wednesday, July 18th, from 9:00am to 3:00pm the Montgomery County Health Department Dental (Oral Health Services) staff will be at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library to perform dental screenings and apply a dental fluoride varnish and sealant to children’s teeth.
This program involves the application of fluoride varnish, a thin coating of resin that is applied to the surfaces of the teeth. The sealant application is a plastic coating that is placed on the chewing surfaces of the permanent back teeth. [Read more]
Local Hershey Track and Field Winner Daylon Brooks qualifies for National Competition
Clarksville, TN – After placing first in her event at the State Hershey Track and Field Competition on Saturday, July 7th in Nashville, one local competitor will be competing at the national level in Hershey, PA.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Housing Market is amongst Nation’s Best
The National Association of Home Builders recently released an index of housing markets that are on the rise.
Washington, D.C. – The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) recently unveiled an index that tracks housing markets on the mend, the NAHB/First American Improving Markets Index (IMI). The IMI is intended to draw attention to the fact that housing markets are local and that there are metropolitan areas where economic recovery is underway.
The index measures three readily available monthly data series that are independently collected and are indicative of improving economic health. The three are employment, house prices and single family housing permit growth.
Clarksville Montgomery County School System website is back Online
Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) brought their website back online Thursday, July 12th.
The site was taken down after the systems security was breached by hackers on Sunday, June 10th.
