APSU Governors Annual Bass Tournament is Saturday
Clarksville, TN – The 18th annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament will be Saturday, May 12th at the Kentucky Lake at Paris Landing State Park.
The tournament will begin at 6:00am. Boats will take off in order of postmark of entry.

Eighth Annual Clarksville Writers Conference is June 7th and 8th with Pulitzer Prize Winner Alex S. Jones as Keynote Speaker
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council is pleased to announce the Eighth Annual Clarksville Writers Conference, being held June 7th and 8th, 2012, on the campus of Austin Peay State University.
We are very honored to have as this year’s keynote speaker Alex S. Jones, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, author of Losing the News: The Future of the News that Feeds Democracy, and co-author of The Patriarch: The Rise and Fall of the Bingham Dynasty with Susan E. Tifft.
Jones, who is currently the director of the Joan Shorenstein Center on the Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, will speak at the conference banquet at the Clarksville Country Club on the evening of Thursday, June 7th. [Read more]
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department issues new requirements for dogs entering Liberty Park’s off-leash Bark Park
Clarksville, TN – In an effort to reduce the risk of the spread of possible disease in canines in Montgomery County and to reduce the number of aggressive dog incidents, the City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is requiring that all dogs entering the off-leash bark park at Liberty Park have the following vetting: Rabies vaccination, parvovirus vaccination, distemper vaccination and be spayed or neutered. APSU Languages and Literature Department awards Scholarships to top Students

Clarksville, TN – Several Austin Peay State University Department of Languages and Literature students were rewarded for their hard work recently when the department presented them with scholarships totaling more than $7,000 for the coming year.
Every spring, the languages and literature department awards the scholarships generously endowed by community members and alumni. Each scholarship has specific criteria for eligibility, set up by the individual who created the scholarship, and a committee within the department then combs through lists of students who meet those requirements. APSU Military History Alum earns prestigious fellowship with U.S. Customs and Border Protection

Clarksville, TN – Last year, Maj. Paul Witkowski of the United States Army was stationed on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, trying to keep enemy combatants and supplies from passing through the region. It was a tricky assignment, given the province’s mountainous terrain and the absence of a fence or other obstruction between the two countries.
Later this summer, he’ll take what he learned in that war zone to Washington, D.C., where he’ll spend a year with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency as part of an Interagency Exchange Program fellowship. [Read more]
