Austin Peay State University Provost Lecture Series to feature art professor’s residency in Tanzania
Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University art professor will discuss her three-week residency in Tanzania as part of the next Provost Lecture Series session at APSU.
Cynthia Marsh, professor of art, will speak at 3:00pm, Thursday, February 16th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. The event is free and open to the public.

Austin Peay State University honor society plans “Big Reveal” to announce new nominees February 15th
Clarksville, TN – At 12:15pm on February 15th, trumpets will sound across the Austin Peay State University campus. The fanfare will be followed by professors and pages, dressed in academic regalia, addressing unsuspecting students in almost all of the University’s buildings.
This, a few high-achieving individuals will soon learn, is the “Big Reveal” – an event that publicly announces the newest student nominees being considered for membership into the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. [Read more]
Love Is In the Air

Clarksville, TN – Love is in the air and the Roxy Regional Theatre is no exception. Currently playing in Downtown Clarksville is the musical comedy revue, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. This very funny and very poignant musical touches on all aspects of love and relationships and every audience member is sure to see themselves on stage at least once.
I asked the ensemble cast of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change if they remembered the first time they were in love and to tell us about it.

National Photo Contest to Provide Local Rewards

Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence to offer Aquatic Belly Dancing Classes
Clarksville, TN – Try something new at the Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence! The Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, is kicking off its first-ever Aquatic Belly Dancing class on March 5th from 6:15pm to 7:00pm.
The class will continue weekly on Mondays from 6:15pm to 7:00pm and Wednesdays from 5:00pm to 5:45pm. Cost is $5.00 per class. [Read more]
Montgomery County announces Volunteer Stars Award Recipients
Montgomery County, TN – Congratulations go to H. Lynn Hunter and Trinity Beard for being selected the Montgomery County recipients for the 2011 Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards.
Hunter and Beard will be recognized, along with other recipients from across the state, at a reception in Nashville on February 27th and both will be honored tonight during the February County commission meeting with proclamations from County Mayor Carolyn Bowers.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department introduces new programming for Toddlers
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department is introducing two new programs for toddlers and young children. Kindermusik ABC Music & Me and Kindermusik Family Time will both begin the full sessions on March 5th, but the Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road, will be offering free demo classes on Monday, February 27th and Wednesday, February 29th.
These demo classes allow those interested a free trial of each class.
Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence Winter Salon sets romantic tone for Valentine’s Day
Clarksville, TN – This Valentine’s Day, the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts plans to set a romantic mood with its newest Winter Salon Series Event – A Reading of Love Poetry by Dr. David Till.
“Well, it’s Valentine’s Day, so the subject will be love: some old favorites and maybe some poems new and surprising, too, I hope,” Till said. “It was William Carlos Williams who said ‘It is difficult / to get the news from poems / yet men die miserably every day / for lack / of what is found there.’ The whole performance will be a sort of ramble or collage, of if I can manage it, a graceful unfolding.” [Read more]
