Austin Peay State University Design Center Students Present 2013 Rivers & Spires Poster Concepts tonight
Clarksville, TN – Tonight, February 20th at 7:00pm, students in this semester’s Design Center class at Austin Peay State University will be presenting their concepts for the 2013 Rivers & Spires Festival poster at a reception held in the Trahern Building Gallery. The public is welcome to attend the event.
The class, under the direction of Assistant Professor Mark DeYoung, began working on the project in January. Representatives from the Festival met with the students and presented the ideas and look they wanted captured in the final piece of artwork. [Read more]

The Greek soap opera continued, but investors took some encouragement in the hope that a deal will be soon reached. Bond yields backed up on reduced fear about Europe and on reduced odds of further Fed asset purchases.
The January 24-25 Fed policy meeting minutes showed only “a few” officials leaning toward QE3, although others thought such action would be warranted if “the economy lost momentum or if inflation seemed likely to remain below the (2%) inflation mandate over the medium term.” Fed officials continued to see an unusually high level of uncertainty surrounding the outlooks for growth and unemployment.
The Consumer Price Index rose 0.2% in January (+2.9% year-over-year), up 0.2% ex-food & energy (+2.3% year-over-year). Bear in mind that the Fed’s inflation target gauge, the PCE Price Index, usually runs about 0.2 or 0.3 percentage points below the CPI (hence, core consumer price inflation appears to be right on target on a year-over-year basis). Austin Peay State University Provost Lecture Series to feature geography professor’s field work in Uganda
Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University geography professor will discuss her field work in Uganda last summer as part of the next Provost Lecture Series session at APSU.
Dr. Christine Mathenge, associate professor of geography, will speak at 3:00pm, Thursday, February 23rd in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. The event is free and open to the public.

Austin Peay Red Coat Society to induct Three prominent Clarksville Auto Dealers
Clarksville, TN – Three prominent Clarksville automobile dealers, who have been strong supporters of Austin Peay State University athletics for decades, will be inducted into the Red Coat Society, Saturday.
Don Jenkins, owner of Jenkins and Wynne Ford Lincoln Honda ; Gary Mathews, owner of Gary Mathews Automotive Group, and James Corlew, owner of James Corlew Chevrolet Cadillac, will be recognized Saturday during halftime of the Governors’ Sears BracketBusters contest with Youngstown State. Nashville State community College acquires satellite Campus site in Clarksville Tennessee this week
Deal is next step toward holding classes later this year
Clarksville, TN – Members of the Montgomery County legislative delegation announced Friday that Nashville State Community College has formally acquired the former Saturn dealership on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard for its satellite campus.
“I am pleased with the news regarding transfer of ownership of this building to Nashville State Community College,” State Representative Joe Pitts said. “This is another step toward the reality of having this fine institution in the Clarksville higher education community.” [Read more]

Early Voting Begins
Montgomery County Election Commission Reminds Voters to Present Photo ID at the Polls
Montgomery County, TN – Early voting began on Wednesday, February 15th, giving registered voters the opportunity to cast ballots for the March 6th Presidential Preference Primary. This is the first statewide election in which voters are required to show photo identification prior to casting their ballots.
