James Horne to join new sports network
Clarksville, TN – James Horne has joined Bonehead Promotions to help launch a new sports network in Clarksville. Horne was the Clarksville Leaf-Chronicle’s Austin Peay State University sports writer and brings sixteen years of journalistic experience to the new venture.
He will anchor a new afternoon sports show on Clarksville’s only news talk sports radio station, 1400am WJZM, and be a contributing writer for Clarksville Online, and the Clarksville Sports Network.

I’m always intrigued by the story of Jesus as a boy in Luke 2. In the latter part of that chapter we find that Joseph and Mary have taken Jesus to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover Feast.
The scriptures tell us that Jesus was 12 years old. After the Feast was over, Joseph and Mary were traveling back home with their kinsman and acquaintances and they found they had left Jesus in Jerusalem.

Austin Peay State University faculty, staff recognized for various accomplishments
Clarksville, TN – Several faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University have been recognized for their recent professional and scholarly activities.
Sherry Kendrick, technical clerk in the Office of the Registrar, received the PeayFormance Customer Service Award. The Enrollment Management and Academic Support will present the award quarterly to a professional or clerical staff member nominated by his or her peers as exemplifying service above and beyond the call of duty to APSU students, faculty and the general campus community. Bill Mace Homes Encourages Youth
Clarksville, TN – On November 22nd, 2011, in the office of Bill Mace Homes, two LEAP Youth Interns were awarded Tennessee Titans tickets in recognition of their academic achievement and community outreach efforts.
Pastor Tommy Vallejos was approached by Bill Mace about developing innovative ways to encourage youth to be productive and responsible citizens. Given Pastor Tommy’s intimate knowledge and involvement with the LEAP Organization, he recommended recognizing two distinguished youth from LEAP.
“A Christmas Carol” opens tonight at the Roxy Regional Theatre
Clarksville, TN – A Christmas Carol opens tonight, November 25th, with “Toys for Tickets,” during which patrons can bring new, unwrapped toys in exchange for admission. Tickets will go on sale at 7:30pm, and donated toys will go to less fortunate children. The show starts at 8:00pm.
Friday night is also pay-what-you-can-night. All tickets not pre-sold at the regular ticket price when the box office opens that evening will go on sale for whatever price you wish to pay. [Read more]
New History Class to teach importance of preserving past
Clarksville, TN – Most of the papers had turned yellow and brittle. For years, they’d been hidden away in boxes inside offices in Stewart County. They were mostly old, out-dated legal documents, and since the county couldn’t afford to hire an archivist, they remained forgotten in their boxes.
Then one afternoon, Teresa Prober, a historian and history instructor at Austin Peay State University, volunteered to go through the papers. She was amazed by the historical significance of what she found.
“We found an original land grant from 1783, just sitting in a box,” she said. “We have a document with Sam Houston’s signature on it. In Stewart County.” [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – Volunteers have been working tirelessly at the Clarksville collection sites where thousands of shoe boxes packed with school supplies, toys and necessity items were dropped off by caring Clarksville residents.
National Collection Week is wrapping up for the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind—Operation Christmas Child—where participants fill empty shoe boxes with items for kids suffering from natural disaster, war, terrorism, famine, and poverty. Clarksville TN – Local singer/songwriter Lydia Walker’s recent weekend digital album release party and music video premiere was a grand success! The excitement was at full throttle at Chick-fil-a of Madison Street as family and friends packed the dining area to view Lydia’s new video – When I Dance – for the first time.
Guests were also treated to personal introductions of each new song featured on Lydia’s project – Beloved. Main co-writer and producer Curt Ryle was on hand to enjoy the celebration as well as Sarah Lejeune of Feeling Good Entertainment who produced the music video.
