Tangled taxonomy next topic of APSU Provost Lecture Series

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Clarifying a tangled taxonomy for a genus is the focus of the next Provost Lecture Series at Austin Peay State University.

Dr. Dan Frederick, professor of geology and geography, will present “The Foraminiferal Genus Lenticulina: Revising a tangled taxonomy” from 3:00pm-4:30pm, Thursday, November 3rd in the Morgan University Center, Room 307.

Fright on FranklinClarksville, TN – The 3rd Annual Fright on Franklin, presented by City of Clarksville and Planter’s Bank, will once again offer safe trick-or-treating.

Local businesses will line the streets in Downtown Clarksville on Saturday, October 29th to pass out candy.

Fright on Franklin activities will begin at 4:00pm with the Costume Contest kicking off at 5:00pm.

Kleeman Haunted Mansion

Clarksville, TN – Come out for a night of fun and frights at the Kleeman Community Center located at 166 Cunningham Lane. The haunting will take place October 28th and 29th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.

Cost is $2.00 for adults (Ages 18 and up) and $1.00 for children (Ages 6-17).

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Communication will hold its eighth annual AP Debate Forum from 6:00pm-8:00pm, Wednesday, November 2nd in the Music and Mass Communication Concert Hall. The debate is free and open to the public.

The topic for this debate is “Resolved: In order to ensure more productive citizenship, all American citizens, who have graduated high school and reached the age of 18, must immediately complete no less than two years of military service, or participate in national or international service missions.” [Read more]

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University National Alumni Association will sponsor both a golf tournament and 5K scholarship run during Homecoming 2011, and those will be open to the public.

The 33rd Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament will be at 8:00am, Friday, October 28th at Swan Lake Golf Course. Cost is $60.00 per person, and advance registration is required. Fee includes ditty bag, refreshments on the golf course and light lunch. The event, sponsored by Budweiser of Clarksville, is chaired by alumnus Frazier Allen (’99). [Read more]

Miller-Motte Students visit Sleep Center

Miller-Motte Technical CollegeClarksville, TN – Miller-Motte’s Polysomnography Program had 11 students visit Gateway Hospital’s sleep study lab on Thursday, October, 20th, 2011.

While they were there they had the opportunity to speak with one of the Registered Polysomnographic Technologists. She informed the students about the sleep center, what is involved with performing good patient set-ups, building rapport with patients, working with different age groups, and accommodating patients with special needs as well as giving a tour of the lab.
