Stellar Theater and Dance Performers to Visit APSU this Year as Acuff Chairs

Acuff Chair of ExcellenceClarksville, TN – For more than 50 years, Chicago’s famed Second City Theater and School of Improvisation has produced some of the country’s most beloved comedic talents. Its alumni – consisting of luminaries like Bill Murray, John Belushi, Steve Carell and Tina Fey – have gone on to successful careers in movies and television shows such as Saturday Night Live and the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

At 7:30pm on October 7th, the group’s touring company will visit Clarksville to perform its hilariously original works on the Austin Peay State University campus.

In his speech at the Kansas City Fed’s annual monetary policy symposium in Jackson Hole, Fed Chairman Bernanke said that “the Federal Reserve has a range of tools that could be used to provide additional monetary stimulus,” adding that “we discussed the relative merits and costs of such tools at our August meeting.” Bernanke said that Fed policymakers “will continue to consider those and other pertinent issues, including of course economic and financial developments, at our meeting in September, which has been scheduled for two days (the 20th and the 21st) instead of one to allow a fuller discussion.” He also noted that Fed officials expect inflation to “settle” over coming quarters at levels at below 2% (the upper end of the Fed’s comfort range. This inflation outlook, along with expectations of continued excess capacity, allowed the Federal Open Market Committee (on August 9) to make explicit the time frame (through the middle of 2013) that short-term interest rates are expected to remain exceptionally low. Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Is your child interested in playing basketball this winter? Clarksville Parks and Recreation is proud to offer our Youth Basketball League once again this year.

The youth league is open to ages 7 to 17 and costs $55.00 per player. This fee covers the department’s costs for shirts, officials, trophies and equipment. Players will be placed on teams after registration. Registrants must bring their birth certificate for age verification. [Read more]

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Plans for two new facilities, along with other developments, are strong reasons to be encouraged in the work environment at Austin Peay State University.

President Tim Hall spoke to faculty and staff during the annual convocation Wednesday, August 24th in the Music/Mass Communication Building Concert Hall.

Among the many exciting recent developments he cited in his address, Hall announced that the State Building Commission recently approved APSU’s request to build a new mathematics and computer science building behind the Hemlock Semiconductor Building.

3rd Annual 100 Women in Red Service

Legends Bank Recognized for Most School Supplies Collected

Clarksville-Montgomery County Education FoundationMontgomery County, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County Education Foundation President Terry Strange presents Legends Bank Vice President of Marketing Brittney Campbell with the top collector award in the Apples for Education Challenge.

Legends Bank branches and Cumberland Bank and Trust collected school supplies for the CMC Teachers Warehouse in July and August.

Legends collected $400.00 and more than 500 school supplies.

First 3 Weeks Progress Reports Friday

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemMontgomery County, TN – Students will be receiving their first progress reports on Friday, based on the first three weeks of academic performance. Parents can follow along on their child’s progress more frequently by signing up for PowerSchool.

If parents need a sign-in password, they may contact their child’s school office for assistance.
