Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – On Saturday July 9th the Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation held Movies in the Park featuring the Kevin Costner hit Field of Dreams. Around 100 people gathered on the grass at Heritage park to enjoy the outdoor movie, fortunately the current heatwave had not yet hit our area.

Jammin in the Alley 2011Clarksville, TN – On Friday, July 15th, the Clarksville Downtown Market will hold its first-ever “Night Market” in conjunction with the City of Clarksville and U.S. Bank’s popular summer concert series Jammin’ in the Alley.

More than a dozen vendors from Clarksville’s weekly Downtown Market will be set up along Strawberry Alley from 5:00pm to 8:00pm selling a variety of homegrown and homemade items.

Red River Sirens Prepare for Second Home Bout

Clarksville Red River SirensClarksville, TN – It’ll be a rollicking good time when Clarksville Roller Derby League’s Red River Sirens team take on the West KY Rockin’ Rollers in the “Hillbilly HoDown” on July 16th at Magic Wheels, 1671 Fort Campbell Boulevard. Doors open at 6:00 and the action begins at 7:00pm. Tickets are $10.00 at the door, with children aged 12 and younger admitted free. Show a valid military ID for a discount on official Sirens team logo merchandise.

This is the Red River Sirens’ second home bout and the third contest of their inaugural season. In June, they traveled to Marion, Illinois and defeated So. Ill Rollergirls with a score of 136-102. [Read more]

Pet NewsClarksville, TN – With temperatures reaching an expect 98 degrees today and 99 degrees tomorrow, it is important to think out your outdoor pets. Pets left outside need to be provided with a shaded area for protection from the sun.

It is also important to provide them with plenty of cool drinking water. I stress cool water because water that has been left out in the warm weather will reach temperatures of 70 to 80 degrees even in the shade. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like drinking warm or hot water and neither does your pet. [Read more]

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – With Austin Peay State University’s football season just around the corner, the Athletics Department is now taking 2011 Tailgate Alley registration forms.

The Govs kick off the 2011 season with a pair of road games – September 3rd at Cincinnati and September 17th at Memphis – before the home schedule begins with a September 24th, Ohio Valley Conference game against Eastern Kentucky.
