Fall 2011 Master Gardener Course Applications are now being Accepted
Montgomery County, TN – Starting on August 23rd, the Fall 2011 Master Gardener Course will be held at the Montgomery County Extension office. Classes will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

Liberty Park Boat Ramp to open additional hours
Clarksville, TN – The new, four-lane boat ramp and two boat docks at Liberty Park will now be open longer. Beginning July 22nd, boaters will be able to access the ramps and docks on Friday afternoons from 2:00pm until dusk.
Mayor Kim McMillan to Announce Fitness Council Members
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will announce members of the Mayor’s Fitness Council at a July fitness event at 5:00pm Wednesday at Smith Pool.
Following the City Council’s approval on July 7th to establish the Fitness Council, McMillan will appoint the members to the new board, which will take a pro-active, multi-faceted approach to helping residents achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle via education, becoming more active and proper nutrition. Salvation Army to host Pancake Breakfast this Saturday
Clarksville, TN – The Salvation Army will host a pancake breakfast on Saturday, July 23rd, from 7:00am until 10:00am, at the James D. Amos Shelter (210 Kraft Street, Clarksville, TN). Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit Shelter operations.

State Representative Curtis Johnson honored by the U.S. Department of Defense
Representative Curtis Johnson has been honored by the U.S. Department of Defense for his work “impacting the quality of life of Service members and their families”
Nashville, TN– Tennessee State Representative Curtis Johnson (R-Clarksville) was recognized recently by the United States Department of Defense for his “leadership on public policy changes positively impacting the quality of life of Service members and their families.”
The award of appreciation comes after Rep. Johnson successfully passed several bills to aid military service members and their families, including House Bill 1106 which was approved this year. That new law requires a court to hold an expedited hearing, if appropriate, for a temporary modification to a decree for child custody or visitation when a parent, who is to be mobilized into military duty, requires immediate attention. It also requires the court to allow testimony to be given by electronic means while the military parent is out of the state and authorizes the court to permanently modify a decree of child custody or visitation if a parent volunteers for successive or frequent duties that removes the parent from the state. The Bucket List is directed by Rob Reiner and features Jack Nicholson, and Morgan Freeman; backed up by Sean Hayes, Beverly Todd, Rob Morrow, Alfonso Freeman, Christopher Stapleton, Ian Anthony Dale, Richard McGonagle, and Lauren Cohn. All movies start at dusk with pre-show activities beginning an hour prior. Be sure to bring your picnic blankets and lawn chairs. 4th Annual Women’s Football Clinic
Ladies are you ready for some football!
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s football coaching staff will host the fourth-annual Women’s Football Clinic, Saturday, July 23rd in the Dunn Center.
For the fourth-straight year, APSU has served as host to the clinic that features informative presentations by the coaching staff as-well-as an entertaining hands-on demonstration of some fun football drills, explanation of the rules by an OVC Official, equipment, nutrition, training and strategy. APSU head coach Rick Christophel, along with his assistant coaches, will provide instruction.

Women's Football Clinic
