Clarksville Police Department Puts 11 New Officers on the Payroll

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On December 1st, 2010, at 9:30am, there were 11 new Police Officers welcomed to the ranks of the Clarksville Police Department by City Officials, families, friends, and fellow Police Officers. The officers were Sworn-In by Clarksville’s Mayor John E. Piper.

The new officers are John Burdge, Matthew Ferrell, Christopher Robinson, Ryan Steinlage, Christy Arwood, Todd Bell, James Atkins, Avery Lambert, Kyle Fleming, Brittany Boisseau, and Morgan Northrup.

APSU Professor and Poet Falconer Awarded Prestigious NEA Fellowship

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Dr. Blas Falconer, a local poet and an associate professor of English at Austin Peay State University, has been awarded a prestigious creative writing fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts.

His work was selected from among 1,063 applicants as deserving of the honor, which brings with it an award of $25,000. The NEA’s creative writing fellowships are meant to encourage the production of new works of literature by providing writers with the time and financial support to write. [Read more]

APSU Center of Excellence Seeking Ovation Award Nominees

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts is looking for nominees from the Clarksville-Montgomery County community to receive this year’s coveted Ovation Awards. Since 1996, the Center has honored individuals who made significant contributions to the artistic and cultural life of the Clarksville community.

Last year’s winners included F&M Bank, represented by Fred Landiss, as recipient of the Corporate Award; Charlotte Oliver Marshall, recipient of the Individual Artist Award; The Downtown Clarksville Association, represented by Paige King, recipient of the Community Organization Award; and Frank Lott, recipient of the George Mabry Award (Photo by APSU).

Clarksville’s 4th Annual Downtown for the Holidays

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Be a part of a Clarksville tradition by celebrating this year at the 4th Annual Downtown for the Holidays celebration presented by the City of Clarksville and US Bank, in Downtown Clarksville, December 4th beginning at 3:00pm.

The event kicks off with the Jingle Bell Jog 5K sponsored by the City of Clarksville and R3. The race will begin at 3:00pm, followed by a youth run at 3:45pm. You can register now at www.active.com. Deadline to register is December 2nd.
