Community School of the Arts Fall Concerts Begin this Week
Clarksville, TN – The Community School of the Arts at Austin Peay State University, which has provided area adults and children with creative arts classes for the last 21 years, is gearing up for its annual end-of-semester concerts and art exhibits.
The CSA offers lessons in music, dance and the visual arts for the general community. Those classes culminate with the end of semester performances and exhibits. [Read more]
Clarksville Kiwanis Clubs gives the gift of Christmas to area children
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Kiwanis Clubs gathered together on December 7th 2010 to bring the joy of Christmas into the hearts of 216 children from the Headstart program and various area child care centers. The annual Children’s Christmas Party is a partnership between the Hilldale and Downtown Kiwanis Clubs, and was organized and chaired by Andrew Hale, and Matt Dyce.
It all kicked off on Monday when roughly 50 people gathered at First Baptist Church to wrap over $7,000 in toys purchased from area Walmarts. The Walmart Corporation gave the Kiwanis Club a generous discount as a donation to the program. The Toy’s included Disney Princess Dolls, Hasbro’s Littlest Petshop dolls, children’s books, Nerf Weather Blitz All-Conditions Footballs, Fisher-Price Dora the Explorer Mega Tunes Guitars, winter hats and gloves, Tonka Lights & Sound – Rescue Force trucks and helicopters, and Road rippers – Street Screamers cars.
APSU Community School of the Arts slates December 9th performance as benefit concert for fire victim
Clarksville, TN – At 7:00pm, Thursday, December 9th, Austin Peay State University’s Community School of the Arts will present a benefit concert to aid a local family whose house was destroyed in a fire December 7th.
The family includes a member of the Clarksville Youth Chorus, which will be featured on the program along with the Clarksville Teen Singers and the Clarksville Community Chorus.
Those who cannot attend the concert but would like to help should call the American Red Cross at 931-645-6401 and reference the Kay Davis family.

2010 Clarksville Christmas Parade
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville gathered together to celebrate the holidays yesterday with the 51st Annual Clarksville Jaycees Christmas Parade. The Parade features area Businesses, Civic Groups, and Community Organizations. Each one competing in their category to the best in their division.
Planters Bank Cube Giveaway Event
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, December 4th 2010 at 3:00pm Planters Bank held their Nissan Cube Giveaway. The winner was Eric Huneycutt.

Clarksville, TN – Planters Bank gave away the Nissan Cube yesterday. The Catch the Cube giveaway was sponsored by Garland Nissan and Matthews Nissan. Owner and President O.B. Garland along with other dealership employees were on hand to watch the giveaway.
The contest kicked off at the 2010 Rivers & Spires festival in April. Eight months later after 3,000-4,000 entries the 12 finalists were selected.
They were selected at events such as Rivers & Spires, Clarksville’s Downtown Market, and Hopkinsville’s Salute to Fort Campbell Week. Other finalists were drawn from online entries and new account openings at the bank’s eight branches. Finally, two were randomly drawn from all entries last week by a representative of Matthews Nissan. [Read more]
“Christmas Belles” at Cumberland Arts Centre
Clarksville, TN – The hilarious comedy, “Christmas Belles”, scheduled to open this weekend at the Cumberland Arts Centre, will have two new faces in the cast. Alex Syler and Susan DeJesus will now be in the roles of Rev. Justin Waverly and Patsy Price.
Personal conflicts forced the original cast members to drop out and Director, Art Conn was able to call on seasoned performers, Syler and Dejesus, to fill in with only one week’s rehearsal time. [Read more]
APSU’s 2010 Distinguished Professor Award recipient to address degree candidates at graduation
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will send off 631 candidates for degrees during dual Winter Commencement ceremonies December 17th in the Dunn Center.
Dr. Karen Sorenson, professor of French and the 2010 APSU Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award recipient, will be the keynote speaker at both commencement events.
The faculty member who earns the Distinguished Professor Award in May serves as commencement speaker at APSU’s winter graduation.

Clarksville, TN – Daymar Institute will be hosting “Handcrafted Holiday” a Christmas craft fair featuring all handcrafted items from artists and crafters from Kentucky and Tennessee.
