Veterans Information Seminar slated for Civic Hall
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Career Center, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization, will host a Veterans Information Seminar from 9:00am to 11:00am October 21st at the Montgomery County Civic Hall, Veterans Plaza, 350 Pageant Lane.
Veterans can speak with representatives of several local organizations about employment rights and services, job placement, veterans’ preferences, homeless programs, VA disability compensation, dependent benefits, GI Bill and other VA education benefits, and VA health care, among other programs and services veterans are entitled to.
Additionally, Assistant Director Stacey Hopwood will give a briefing about the array of services offered at the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization, and Michael Elliott will discuss services for veterans available through the Career Center.
Clarksville Networking Group holds Visitors Day
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Networking Group will hold a visitors day on Tuesday, October 19th at the Riverview Inn in downtown Clarksville. Any business representative is invited to attend the meeting to find out more about the organization.
Clarksville Networking Group was formed in 2003 by a group of local business people to give members an organized avenue to increase business through professional referrals. Tuesday’s Visitors day will start with a free breakfast at 8:30am.

Clarksville To Host 2011 Miss Tennessee USA Pageants This Week
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville will host 97 young women competing in the upcoming 2011 Miss Tennessee USA and Teen USA pageants.
Both events will take place at the Austin Peay State University Music and Mass Communications Building on October 15th and 16th, 2010. This will be Clarksville’s eleventh year hosting the pageants.
Theresa Harrington, Director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau said, “We are looking forward to hosting the pageants and welcoming the delegates, their families and supporters to Clarksville-Montgomery County. There are delegates competing from all over the state of Tennessee and we are happy to have them here to experience our community.”
Local YMCAs now accepting Operation Christmas Child boxes
YMCA partners with Samaritan’s Purse to collect gift-filled boxes for children
Nashville, TN – The YMCA of Middle Tennessee will again partner with Samaritan’s Purse to collect gift-filled shoe boxes for children worldwide as part of the annual outreach effort Operation Christmas Child. The Y will join in the local efforts of Operation Christmas Child to collect shoe boxes at all of its 29 centers.
Anyone wishing to fill a shoe box for a child in need may pick up an empty box and list of recommended supplies at any YMCA in the Middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky area. Empty boxes will be available at local Ys until the final collection day. Simply visit a local YMCA to get a box between now and then and return it with your gifts by the November 15th deadline. 10th Annual Appleton Harley-Davidson Eagle Toy Run

This morning I was thinking about a statement that I heard that Corrie Ten Boone had made. Corrie Ten Boone was a Christian lady who went through Nazi concentration camps and being a Christian had gotten her and her sister thru it.
She was also the writer of several books and some Christian hymns. They were making a movie about her life and one day the movie producer called her and said they were going to have to stop the production because they had run out of money. She told him that’s no problem because my father owns the cattle on a thousand hills and he’ll just sell some cattle. Psalms 50:10 reads, “For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.” [Read more]
APSU schedules 2 college preview days
Clarksville, TN – High school students interested in knowing more about attending Austin Peay State University are encouraged to visit campus during Fall 2010 AP Day, October 30th or November 13th, both of which are Saturdays.
University faculty, staff and students will provide the same informational sessions and activities on both days.
Check-in for both days is at 10:00am in the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center. Students and their parents will receive tickets for lunch in the campus cafeteria, located on the main floor of Morgan University Center. Also, during that time, guests will have opportunities to tour the campus and meet with professors and current Austin Peay students. [Read more]
