Children’s Theater Event at Dunbar Cave
The Children’s Theater of Austin Peay presented a wonderful, entertaining, eco-friendly program to an audience of sixty two visitors at Dunbar Cave State Natural Area On Saturday, July 24th.
This event began with a children’s art project, involving coloring and cutting out leaves and making frog hats, later used in the audience participation portions of the skits. Two skits, The Squirrel and the Acorn and The Caterpillar and the Frog, were acted out at the cool cave entrance.
Comedy on the Cumberland – Behind the Scenes
Comedy on the Cumberland returned to the Roxy Theatre July 20th, 2010 at 7:00pm. Some of Nashville’s funniest comedians were there to entertain along with Clarksville’s very own Jim Gossett headlining the event, with assistance from John Bowman, Chad Riden, Brian Bates, and Brian E. Eiley.

Calling all artists; the Rivers and Spires Festival needs your submissions by October 25th, 2010 for the 2011 festival poster. The winner will receive a great deal of exposure throughout the event, as well as a $500.00 cash prize.
Whether you are an aspiring artist, professional graphic designer or art is your hobby; all people, from any location, are encouraged to apply. The selected artwork will be used on the 2011 Rivers and Spires promotional poster and will be distributed to over 100,000 people throughout Clarksville-Montgomery County, Tennessee and surrounding areas.

Hooters Grand Re-Opening in Clarksville Tennessee
On Monday, August 2nd, Hooters in Clarksville Tennessee held their grand re-opening after the Great Flood of 2010. The restaurant was rebuilt and remodeled.
24th Annual Governors Golf Classic just 3 weeks away
The 24th Annual Governors Golf Classic is just three weeks away.
Sponsored by the Governors Club, the four-person men and women’s scramble will be limited to 60 teams, 30 per shotgun starts at noon, Friday, August 27th, and 8:00am, Saturday, August 28th, at Swan Lake Golf Course.
For a fourth straight year, men and women’s divisions are established. Cost is $400.00 per team, or $100.00 per person. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Austin Peay State University Athletics. [Read more]
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area Programs for the week of August 8th
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer.

August Sales Tax Holiday is August 6th through the 8th
Nashville, TN – The fifth annual Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled for Friday, August 6th and continuing through Sunday, August 8th. The Department of Revenue is reminding Tennessee shoppers that during these three days of savings, you can save almost 10 percent on tax-free clothing, school and art supplies and computer purchases.
The holiday begins Friday, August 6th at 12:01am and ends Sunday, August 8th at 11:59pm. During the designated three-day weekend, consumers will not pay state or local sales tax on select clothing with a price of $100.00 or less per item, school and art supplies with a price of $100.00 or less per item, and computers with a price of $1,500 or less.

Clarksville Networking Group changes location
The Clarksville Networking group will be holding their meetings at a new location; The Riverview Inn in downtown Clarksville Tennessee. This change of venue makes it more accessible to the increasing number of members as a more centralized location.
Clarksville Networking Group was formed in 2003 by a group of local business people to give members an organized avenue to increase business through professional referrals.
