Fort Campbell really knows how to celebrate Independence Day
Fort Campbell’s MWR wrapped up their week long 4th of July Celebration on July 5th, and While many of the 101st Airborne Division’s Soldiers are on deployment in Afghanistan, their families were treated to a celebration that rewarded the sacrifice both they and their loved ones are making.
This year’s festivities include carnival rides and more than 20 games of skill, and of course lots of festive foods, all provided by Belle City Amusements; a series of free concerts all day on July 4th; and who can forget the amazing 30 minute long fireworks extravaganza that lights up the sky for miles around. The 101st Parachute Demonstration Team also demonstrated their precision.
Zumba Classes to Begin
The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will soon be offering Zumba classes once again! Join us beginning July 14th, Wednesday’s from 6:30pm-7:30pm and Friday’s from 5:00pm-6:00pm at the Crow Community Center located at 211 Richview Road for this popular music and dance program.
Zumba is a fitness class that features interval training sessions that incorporates fast and slow rhythms with resistance training. [Read more]

Through 350 live performances, Dan and his band have spent the past two years sharing his songs with new fans across the region. Venues he has performed at include Fort Campbell, the prestigious Gibson Showcase in Nashville, 4th Street Live in Louisville and Turfway Park. When they are home they can be found performing at local establishments in the Cincinnati area.

Fort Campbell 4th of July Celebration – The Carnival
The Independence Week Carnival, presented by USAA and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, began June 30th at 5:00pm and ran through July 5th. This year’s festivities included carnival rides and games provided by Belle City Amusements. The July 4th celebration is kicked off with a free concert and ends with a 20 minute fireworks display.
Come downtown to Porkin in the Park this Friday and Saturday
The 3rd annual Porkin in the Park is Friday and Saturday, July 9th and 10th at Strawberry alley. Downtown Clarksville will be filled with the smell of slow hickory smoked barbeque and the sounds of live music. Clarksville Kiwanis Club is hosting its third annual Kansas City Barbeque Society’s Porkin in the Park State Championship Contest presented by Bud Light. Teams from all over the eastern United States will be competing for $6,500 in prize money in five categories, chicken, pulled pork bbq, brisket, ribs, and dessert. Don’t worry; there will be plenty of championship barbeque for sale so come hungry.
The event is free and open to the public. In addition to the food, there’s live music both nights beginning at 6:00pm. Mike Robinson will kick things off Friday followed by Les Kerr and the Bayou Band. Saturday night Southern Comfort will open for The Beagles. There’s a kid’s zone both days for the little ones with inflatables.
