July 4, 2010 | Print This Post

The City of Clarksville held their annual Independence Day Celebration yesterday. The festivities kicked off with the presentation of the colors by the Clarksville Police Department Colorguard. Tina Brown kicked off the entertainment followed by McAllister’s Crossroads both are local favorites. Closing out the evenings entertainment was Country Music Super Star Joe Diffie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dL7xGd6Dio0

{openx:9}
Born in Tulsa Oklahoma Diffie is well known for his ballads and fun novelty songs like Third Rock from the Sun. He first topped the charts in 1990 with Home, since then Joe has remained on a steady course, staying true to his roots and delivering hit after hit totaling twelve #1’s, twenty top 10’s and four gold and platinum albums. When you attend a Joe Diffie concert, you’re not waiting for him to sing his hit – you’re waiting for him to sing your favorite hit. Whether it’s Ships That Don’t Come In, Pickup Man, John Deere Green, or If the Devil Danced (In Empty Pockets), Joe’s music always makes you remember where you were the first time you heard it. The Clarksville Fireworks show has become one of the best fireworks shows held in the area. Other area shows include Cumberland City’s Thunder over the Cumberland, and Fort Campbell’s July 4th Festival This year’s event is presented by The City of Clarksville and Aetna Insurance. Sponsors include Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union, Cumberland Bank & Trust, U.S. Bank, The Leaf Chronicle, Ingram Barge and Materials Company, Legends Bank, 5 Star Radio Group, CDE Lightband, Lamar Advertising, WJZM, Clarksville Family Magazine, Clarksville’s Best Buys, Bi-County Solid Waste Management, SannaBlue, F&M Bank, Austin Peay State University and Planter’s Bank.
