Austin Peay State University adds new computer networking concentration for Bachelor of Science degree

Clarksville, TN – Tucked down a hallway in the new Austin Peay State University Maynard Mathematics and Computer Science Building, there’s a little-known computer lab that operates off the main campus grid. The 24 PCs that line the room have access to the internet, but they are not part of the APSU network.
“They’re totally disconnected from anything on campus,” Dr. Bruce Myers, chair of the APSU Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, said. “We use it to teach computer networking, but to teach that, you can’t just take your typical computer in a lab and let people starting working. APSU Professor Yu Earns Best Paper at ACM Conference

Clarksville, TN – Over the last several years, Dr. Yingbing Yu, assistant professor of computer science at Austin Peay State University, has developed an interest in the biomedical science of immunology. Specifically, he’s been curious about how natural immune systems identify and protect an organism from harmful foreign bodies, such as bacteria or parasites. Three APSU faculty recognized for their efforts

Three faculty members at Austin Peay State University have recent noteworthy accomplishments.
Dr. Jack Deibert, professor of geosciences, has been appointed by Governor Phil Bredesen to serve on the state’s Solid Waste Disposal Control Board of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. The primary function of the Solid Waste Disposal Control Board is to hear appeals of department actions in enforcement and permitting, and to promulgate regulations in hazardous waste, solid waste and Superfund.
