Clarksville, TN – The Historic Downtown Clarksville Association (DCA), is proud to announce the First Thursday ArtWalk for February, 2012.
This months artwalk will be held on February 2nd, 5:00pm until 8:00pm, and as always will be held in the shops and galleries on Franklin Street, Strawberry Alley, Main Street and Second Street. Clarksville, TN – As a manager of a downtown business, I get asked all the time about my shop, and other downtown shops and why we choose to be part of a downtown community. Why did we decide to be here versus a strip mall, independent building or in the mall. Well, I know what the owner of ARTifacts, Paige King, would say. But I can’t say for sure what the reasoning for the other business owners in downtown would say.
So I decided it was time to ask! I thought it would be a good idea to ask all the members of the Downtown Clarksville Association (DCA) all the questions we get asked daily and share them with you here. Starting with Ingredients – and continuing with all the businesses who decide to participate in this segment of feature articles. Clarksville’s 5th Annual Downtown for the Holidays

Clarksville, TN – Be a part of a Clarksville tradition by celebrating this year at the 5th Annual Downtown for the Holidays celebration presented by the City of Clarksville and Montgomery County Government, in Downtown Clarksville, December 3rd.
The event kicks off with the Jingle Bell Jog 5K hosted by the City of Clarksville and Run for a Reason. The race will begin with a one mile fun run at 8:00am, followed by the 5K. You can register now at www.active.com. Deadline to register is December 1st. Pre-register by November 16th to be guaranteed a free event t-shirt. All proceeds will benefit Manna Café. [Read more]

Gateway to Stardom gets Reprieve

Clarksville, TN – The Gateway to Stardom Talent Show that was rained out at Riverfest has been given a new performance date and venue.
On Saturday, October 22nd from 1:00pm to 7:00pm on Strawberry Alley, you will see all of the talent contestants vying for the $2,500 cash prize awarded by Daymar Institute. National Talent Scouts will be part of the judges for these talented young performers. [Read more]
Tina Brown to Close Out the 2011 Jammin’ in the Alley Concert Series on October 21st

larksville, TN – The City of Clarksville together with U.S. Bank will soon be Jammin’ in Strawberry Alley for the last time this season on Friday, October 21st in downtown Clarksville.
This month’s free concert features Tina Brown. This New York native has quickly become a Clarksville favorite performing at various local events around town and all over the mid-South to include blues festivals, on Beale Street, and has even opened for Earth, Wind, & Fire and Gladys Knight in Europe!

The 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally visited Clarksville Tennessee

Clarksville, TN – The 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally Southern Excursion made their scheduled stop in Clarksville, Tennessee, Thursday afternoon, and left out early on Friday morning on the final leg of their 2500 mile journey. The 2011 Chevrolet Fireball Run Adventurally began on September 24th on Florida’s Space Coast and concludes today in the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The 2011 locations included Melbourne and Jacksonville FL, Savannah, Atlanta and Peachtree City GA, Charleston, SC, Knoxville, Crossville and Clarksville TN, Scottsville, KY, Anniston AL, and Gulfport MS.
Participants this year included NASCAR legend Geoff Bodine, NASA Shuttle Astronaut Winston Scott, Actor/Activist Kevyn Major Howard along with 40 other teams driving everything from Bentley’s and Camaro’s. Of special note was the 9/11 Pentagon Car which commemorates the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, it is inscribed with the names of the people who died on Flight 77; and the Officer Down car which honors the officers who swore to protect and serve, and did so even at the cost of their lives. Also participating was the DeLorean “Time Car” from Back to the Future, Transformers Bumblebee, and one of the police cars used in the Andy Griffith TV series.
