Clarksville Regional Airport to hold Total Solar Eclipse Viewing

Clarksville, TN – A once-in-a-lifetime sky gazing opportunity will occur this summer and Clarksville Regional Airport (CKV – Outlaw Field) is inviting the community to watch this historic phenomenon from the grounds of the airport.
A total Solar Eclipse will take place on Monday, August 21st, 2017 and Clarksville Regional will host a free-to-the-public Solar Eclipse Viewing Event from noon until 3:00pm.
Austin Peay State University Students to launch high-altitude balloon during 2017 eclipse

Clarksville, TN – Almost like dominoes toppling over, only in reverse, a line of high-altitude balloons will gradually rise into the late summer sky, from Oregon to South Carolina, on August 21st, 2017.
That afternoon, the shadow of a total solar eclipse will traverse the entire country, and as it nears Clarksville, a team of Austin Peay State University students will release their own helium-filled inflatable.
Planters Bank Gallery Hosts Still Life Arrangements by Charlotte Nelms

Clarksville, TN – Artist Charlotte Nelms will show an exhibit of still life arrangements at the Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery on Thursday, May 1st – Wednesday, June 4th.
Previously specializing in pastel landscapes, Nelms is now exploring depth of realism, focusing on sparkling crystal, shiny metal, and lace.

Grant is one of nearly 900 to be awarded through the inaugural Darden Restaurant Community Grants Program
Clarksville, TN – Mt Olive Historical Preservation Society has received a $2000 grant as part of the inaugural Restaurant Community Grant Program from the Darden Foundation, the charitable arm of Darden Restaurants Inc.
The Restaurant Community Grant Program is a local grants program intended to help support nonprofit organizations in the hundreds of communities Darden and its restaurant brands serve. The donation will enable Mt Olive Society’s Brandon Hill Youth Heritage Garden program to reach scores of young people in the Montgomery County community.
