“Bowl-a-Thon” for Empty Bowls to be hosted by Hands on Clarksville, Professor Ken Shipley and APSU Ceramics Department October 6th, 2012

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville invites the community to the second annual Empty Bowls “bowl-a-thon” hosted by Ken Shipley, Associate Professor Peay State University on Saturday, October 6th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Trahern building located on campus.

The purpose of the “Bowl-a-Thon” is to produce a bowls for the “Empty Bowls” project. “Empty Bowls” is an annual joint fundraiser to raise money for Loaves and Fishes and Urban Ministries Grace Assistance Food Pantry and to raise awareness about hunger issues in our community. [Read more]

Riverfest 2012Clarksville, TN – Why not celebrate the 25th anniversary of Clarksville Riverfest by giving back and possibly win prize money for your group or organization?

Clarksville Parks and Recreation is seeking volunteers to help with soft drink sales, the Adventure Zone children’s area, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, as well as the Cornhole Tournament on September 7th and 8th at McGregor Park.

The group or organization who registers the most volunteers through Hands On Clarksville by August 31st will receive $500.00. [Read more]

Be a part of this remarkable initiative to honor 9/11 victims, survivors and those who rose up in service in response the attacks by volunteering in your community. Volunteers and volunteer leaders are needed to help with various local service activities.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan introduces Summer Night Lights Program

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, in conjunction with the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and the Clarksville Police Department, is introducing a new program for youth and their families. Summer Night Lights is an eight week program, which will run from June 14th through August 3rd on Thursday and Friday nights.

The program will take place at two locations. On Thursdays, the event will be held at the Kleeman Community Center, 166 Cunningham Lane, from 6:00pm–9:30pm. On Friday evenings, it will take place at the Burt-Cobb Community Center/Dixon Park, 1011 Franklin Street, from 6:00pm–10:30pm. [Read more]

The event is part of the 2012 Learning Series that provides training and professional networking opportunities for nonprofits, board members and other professionals interested in the area of nonprofit leadership and management.
