Comedy “Always A Bridesmaid” opens at Cumberland Arts Centre, February 9th

Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – If you love the comedies by the writing team of Jones, Hope, Wooten, you’re sure to enjoy the next production of “Always A Bridesmaid” coming to the Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre stage February 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th.

This production, directed by Art Conn, has a cast of a few CAC veterans; Jan Dial, Debbie Striclyn, Amy Snider, Misty Rogers, Shellene Kent and newcomer, Beth Kirby.

Open Auditions for Comedy at Cumberland Arts Centre

Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The Cumberland Arts Centre will hold open auditions for the upcoming dinner theatre production of “Boeing, Boeing” on Sunday July 16th and Monday July 17th at 7:00pm. Roles are available for 2 males and 4 females.

This production will be directed by Art Conn and is scheduled for August 18th, 19th, 25th and 26th. Anyone wishing to audition will be asked to read from the script. The theatre is located at 710 Main Street in Downtown Clarksville.

Cumberland Arts Centre announces Lauren Street to direct Beauty and the Beast

Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The Cumberland Arts Centre is proud to announce that Lauren Street, M.F.A., will be directing the upcoming musical production of Disney’s® Beauty and the Beast in the upstairs theatre. She will also be holding classes for the newly formed School of Performing Arts at the theatre.

Lauren holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theatre from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from the University of Louisville.

Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – “The Savannah Sippin’ Society” opens this weekend at the Cumberland Arts Centre’s Dinner Theatre. With production dates of June 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th.

The comedy is from the writing team of Jones, Hope, Wooten; the team that brought us the Futrell sisters and the Verdeen cousins. In this delightful, laugh-a-minute comedy, four unique Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by Fate—and an impromptu happy hour—and decide it’s high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they’ve lost through the years.

Starring a cast of local favorites and some new faces, this yuletide farce is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Cumberland Arts Center veterans, Nicole June, Alex Maynard, Glen Pafford, Bailey Thompson and Colleen Hyder join newcomers, Amy Snider and Brett LaGore, in this comedy written by Jack Sharkey and Leo W. Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The Cumberland Arts Centre, in Downtown Clarksville, will hold open auditions for the upcoming production of “Allocating Annie” on Monday and Tuesday nights, January 4th and 5th at 7:00pm.

“Allocating Annie” is a romantic comedy of misunderstandings. It calls for 3 males, (ages 20 – 50) and 4 females, (ages 20 – 60).

Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre’s next production is “Southern Fried Funeral” with a heavy dose of veteran actors and a slew of newcomers to the stage.

“Southern Fried Funeral”, written by Osbourne & Eppler, is set in the small Mississippi town of New Edinburgh. The play’s action takes place over several days in August during the funeral of Dewey Frye, who dropped dead in the middle of a joke to the Rotarians during their dinner meeting. His wife, Dorothy, is faced with dealing with funeral arrangements, the realities of widowhood and a crazy assemblage of family, both real and imagined.

“For Better” to open at Cumberland Arts Centre

Clarksville, TN – Cell phones, instant messaging, email, social media … has the communication technology of the 21st Century brought us closer together or farther apart?

“Love in the Age of Communication” could easily be the subtitle of “For Better,” Eric Coble’s two-act show presented by the Cumberland Arts Centre on February 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th.

This romantic farce follows the engagement and impending marriage of Karen Baedeker, who has met her beloved Max Aphelion all of two times, but who shares emails, text messages, IMs and other various media multiple times a day. [Read more]

“Christmas Belles” at Cumberland Arts Centre

Clarksville, TN – The hilarious comedy, “Christmas Belles”, scheduled to open this weekend at the Cumberland Arts Centre, will have two new faces in the cast. Alex Syler and Susan DeJesus will now be in the roles of Rev. Justin Waverly and Patsy Price.

Personal conflicts forced the original cast members to drop out and Director, Art Conn was able to call on seasoned performers, Syler and Dejesus, to fill in with only one week’s rehearsal time. [Read more]
