Fort Campbell High School 2018 Graduation
Clarksville, TN – Fort Campbell High School held its Fifty-Sixth Annual Commencement Exercises Friday at Austin Peay State University’s Dunn Center.
The FCHS Class of 2018 graduated a mere 95 students, but their achievements were impressive, as was evidenced by the fact that this class received a collective $7 million in scholarship offers from universities around the country.
The ceremony began with a senior slide show, followed by a student processional to the traditional Pomp and Circumstance.

Clarksville, TN – Within the Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center at Austin Peay State University, located in Clement 120, a select group of African-American undergraduate students participate in a mentoring program called the Achievers and Scholars Initiative.
The purpose of this program is to ensure the academic and personal success of African-American males, while increasing the University’s retention and graduation rates for this student population.

Clarksville, TN – The APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts presents an alumni reading and screening featuring Raven Jackson, Chip Boles and Anthony Sims Jr. at 4:00pm, Tuesday, February 16th in the Trahern Gallery on the campus of Austin Peay State University.
After finishing his English degree at APSU in 1999, Anthony Sims went on to earn an MFA from Ohio University. His feature screenplay, “Behemoth,” was optioned by Lucy Darwin (“Match Point,” “Lost in La Mancha”) in 2006.

Clarksville, TN – The Department of Art and Design, with support from The Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, is pleased to welcome Safa Samiezadé-Yazd to the campus of Austin Peay State University.
Samiezadé-Yazd will be on campus to give a brief introduction into the world of Arabic calligraphy, graffiti writing, street art and urban culture, and the artists, graffiti writers and typographers who keep the tradition alive.

“Cash Crop” is an exhibition that invites viewers to walk into an emotional, physical and psychic space to confront the past, present and future.
Austin Peay State University professor to speak on how to write book proposals that sell

Clarksville, TN – Dr. Gregg Steinberg is offering a seminar titled, “Writing a Book Proposal That Sells.” The seminar will be held from 3:00pm-4:00pm Thursday, February 26th in the Morgan University Center, room 303, on the campus of Austin Peay State University. The seminar is free and open to the public.
Steinberg will show participants how to devise a proposal for an agent or publisher and cover the key components of a book proposal. [Read more]
Acclaimed journalist Soledad O’Brien to speak at APSU Unity event March 25th

Clarksville, TN – The award-winning broadcast journalist Soledad O’Brien doesn’t shy away from difficult subjects. Her reporting on Haitian orphanages following a massive earthquake in that country earned her an Emmy, and her work for CNN during Hurricane Katrina brought her and the network a George Foster Peabody Award.
At 7:00pm on March 25th, O’Brien will speak at the Memorial Health Gym (Red Barn) on the Austin Peay State University campus as part of the annual Student Affairs Unity Celebration. O’Brien will deliver a speech titled “Diversity: On TV, Behind the Scenes and In Our Lives.”

Clarksville, TN – Dr. Marc Lamont Hill is a hard person to classify. He is an academic, serving as an associate professor at Columbia University. He also appears regularly on CNN, MSNBC and the Fox News Channel as a respected commentator and journalist.
Some know him simply as a writer, penning articles for the New York Times and authoring books such as “Beats, Rhymes and Classroom Life: Hip-Hop Pedagogy and the Politics of Identity.”
