The final day of Rivers and Spires starts off slow, but picks up in the end

The Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – Due to unseasonably chilly weather and a blustery wind, the third day of Rivers and Spires looked like it was going to end with a whimper rather than a bang, the victim of the unpredictable spring weather. However as the afternoon wore on, more and more people showed up to enjoy all that the festival had to offer. “The crowd hung in even though we had monsoon winds and rains, and I think it says a lot about this festival, and how much people enjoy it” said Festival Manager Doug Barber.

Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce announces new board

Clarksville Area Chamber of CommerceThe Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2010-2011 Chamber Board of Directors. The Chamber elects new leadership each fiscal year, with the fiscal year running from July 1st, 2010 to June 30th, 2011. The board of directors, executive committee and ex-officio members of the board attend quarterly meetings, provide direction for Chamber staff and volunteers, and manage the finances of The Chamber.

This year’s members are: Jeannie Beauchamp, Chairman; Steve Kemmer, 1st Vice Chair;
Charlie Koon, 2nd Vice Chair; David B. Cumberland Bank & Trust received Crime Free Business Certification from Clarksville Police Department

Cumberland Bank & Trust was recently presented with the Crime Free Business certification by the Clarksville Police Department (CPD). Cumberland Bank & Trust is the second business in Clarksville to receive the certification and the first business with multiple locations throughout Montgomery County to be recognized as a Crime Free Business. Ron Sleigh, President / CEO said “ Cumberland Bank & Trust is excited to be a part of the Crime Free Business program and proud to be the first bank in Clarksville / Montgomery County to complete this program. CPD should be commended for their work with the Clarksville Community to promote safety in the work place.”

Comedy on the Cumberland provides post-flood assistance to local branch of the American Red Cross

Comedy on the CumberlandThe Second Comedy on the Cumberland benefit has come and gone. The charity event held on Tuesday evening brought five very funny comedian to Clarksville; raising over $4,000 to help the local chapter of the American Red Cross start on their own road to recovery after the Great Flood of 2010.

Interim CEO Randy Weddle related how they were affected by the flooding. “The flood of 2010 affected your Red Cross just as it did so many citizens of the county and surrounding areas. We had about three feet of water that came through our building, but you would never know it by the way that our strong hearted volunteers responded to the needs of our citizen”. The Red Cross spent a lot of money and expended a lot of their resources, helping local residents during the May 2010 flooding.
