Clarksville, TN – For the second year, the Festival is pleased to offer a zone geared especially for the sports enthusiast. From novice to semi-pro, the Sports Zone is for you!
Come on out to the Festival on Friday, April 17th, 5:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday, April 18th, 10:00am-8:00pm, to try your hand at everything from games of agility to games of sports knowledge. There’s no reason to be shy about working up a sweat and showing off your mad skills at this year’s Festival!

Clarksville, TN – The Rivers and Spires Festival has been bringing free family fun to Historic Downtown Clarksville for over a decade. And over the years, the Festival has been no stranger to changing up the attractions to make sure everyone is entertained.
This year, for the first time, the Festival is pleased to offer a zone geared especially for the sports enthusiast.
25th Annual Governors Golf Classic set for September 23rd-24th

Clarksville, TN – What started out as “Goober Golf” back in 1987, is now 25 years old. The 25th Annual Governors Golf Classic is set for Friday-Saturday, September 23rd-24th, at Swan Lake Golf Course.
George “Goober” Lindsey, the former television star of the Andy Griffith Show and Hee Haw, was the featured guest host for that first tourney, which also featured several other veteran country music stars.
Twenty five years later the tourney remains a fun but important fund raiser for Austin Peay State University’s athletic department. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – With Austin Peay State University’s football season just around the corner, the Athletics Department is now taking 2011 Tailgate Alley registration forms.
The Govs kick off the 2011 season with a pair of road games – September 3rd at Cincinnati and September 17th at Memphis – before the home schedule begins with a September 24th, Ohio Valley Conference game against Eastern Kentucky.
Nine Austin Peay teams post best-ever APR marks

Austin Peay State University’s athletics department received its full Academic Progress Rate (APR) report from the National Collegiate Athletics Association, Wednesday. Nine of the department’s 15 athletic programs posted best-ever marks in multi-year APR.
Each academic year, each athletics team calculates its APR for the year, based on the eligibility, retention and graduation of each scholarship student-athlete. The APR was developed by the NCAA as a more real-time assessment of teams’ academic performances than the six-year graduation-rate calculation provides, the APR awards two points each term to student-athletes who meet academic-eligibility standards (one point) and who remain with the institution (one point). A team’s APR is the total points earned by the team at a given time divided by the total points possible. [Read more]
