Accompanist was Angel Broady and Lacy Wilson.<\/p>\n<p>The Women\u2019s Choir does a bit of Andrew Lloyd Webber before turning up the heat with a stunning, sultry rendition of <em>At Last <\/em>sung by Sheteria Williams. That \u201cshowstopper\u201d was just the beginning.<\/p>\n<p>As the three key choir began to strut their stuff, they honored \u201c100 Years of Broadway,\u201d beginning with Richard Rogers legendary\u00a0 <em>South Pacific,<\/em> complete with rapid costume changes for lively presentations<em> I\u2019m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair <\/em>and <em>There is Nothing Like a Dame.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A touch of Leonard Bernstein comes in the form of <em>I Feel Pretty<\/em> from<em> West Side Story<\/em>. More costumes and choreography overruns the stage in Guys and Dolls, with a snappy <em>Bushel and a Peck<\/em> ( a terrific and charming performance by lead vocalist Sara Schichtel), and<em> Luck be a Lady<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_995\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/nehs-co-dc-exit-one-show-073.jpg\" class=\"thickbox no_icon\" ><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-995\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-995\" title=\"nehs-co-dc-exit-one-show-073\" src=\"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/nehs-co-dc-exit-one-show-073-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"nehs-co-dc-exit-one-show-073\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/nehs-co-dc-exit-one-show-073-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/nehs-co-dc-exit-one-show-073.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-995\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&quot;Jellicle Cats&quot; from CATS<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After a brief intermission, the show continued with <em>Dreamgirls<\/em>, and a steaming medley from <em>Smokey\u2019s Joe\u2019s Cafe<\/em>. Pop numbers for Hairspray were followed by a spoof of <em>Beauty and the Beast<\/em> titled <em>Beauty\u2019s Been Decreased<\/em>, performed by Humberto Figueroa.<\/p>\n<p>Webber\u2019s <em>Jellicle Cat<\/em> from<em> CATS<\/em> was the only \u201ccanned music of the night, a lively version to which the players spent all their energy of delightful choreography.<\/p>\n<p>Hailey Johnson stepped into the spotlight for a lovely rendering of <em>Somewhere Over The Rainbow<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the night of music was the classic <em>One<\/em> from <em>A Chorus Line<\/em>, complete with sparkling fedoras and some precision footwork.<\/p>\n<p>These students returned from their 2008 Christmas break to a grueling 2009 schedule in early January, working after school every night plus Saturdays for two solid weeks with choreographer Amanda Batts. A complex rehearsal schedule continued to keep\u00a0 students at school dozens of extra hours a week, with a second round of choreography prior to the performance dates.\u00a0 As grueling as the musical schedule is, acceptance into the choir also requires that each student maintain a certain grade point average to participate.
