(Image by Rufus Johnson Associates)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->The new math and computer science building will house two of APSU\u2019s growing departments \u2013 mathematics and statistics, and computer science and information technology.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, both the APSU Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the APSU Department of Computer Science and Information Technology occupy space in two buildings \u2013 the Clement Building, where programs in the social sciences to include psychology and political science are based, and the Claxton Building, home of the College of Education.<\/p>\n<p>The relocation of the two departments \u2013 whose programs have seen increasing numbers of students declaring math and computer science as majors \u2013 into a new facility will allow the other academic programs such as education to expand in their respective buildings.<\/p>\n<p>APSU was able to allocate funding for the new capital project with revenues raised from recent student enrollment increases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clarksville, TN &#8211; Austin Peay State University has announced it will break ground on a new mathematics and computer science building in Fall 2012 on the main campus.
