Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.<\/p>\n<p>In the month of January, the Museum will feature Richard LeFevre: The Civil War Series, Assemblages: The Art of Sandra Paynter Washburn, &#8220;Snowflake Special&#8221; Model Trains, Sunday Family Fun &#8211; \u201cIndoor Bird Watching\u201d and so much more.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Exhibits<\/h3>\n<h4>Richard LeFevre: The Civil War Series<\/h4>\n<p>LeFevre\u2019s paintings from the collection of UT Knoxville document the important battles of the Civil War, including those at Gettysburg, Chattanooga, Vicksburg, Shiloh, Chickamauga, and Knoxville. On exhibit now through March.<\/p>\n<h4>Bold Expressions: Paintings by Larry Martin<\/h4>\n<p>Clarksville artist Larry Martin creates bold, richly colored paintings. Opens January 6th.<\/p>\n<h4>Assemblages: The Art of Sandra Paynter Washburn<\/h4>\n<p>This exhibit features mixed media paintings, sculptural pieces and jewelry by nationally known artist Sandra Paynter Washburn. Opens January 10th.<\/p>\n<h4>The Wooden Plane: From the Collection of Terry Strange<\/h4>\n<p>See antique tools dating back to the late 1700&#8217;s. Starts January 14th.<\/p>\n<h4>A-B-C : Items from the Collection<\/h4>\n<p>Various objects from our collection represent the letters of the alphabet. Opens January 19th.<\/p>\n<h3>Activities<\/h3>\n<h4>&#8220;Snowflake Special&#8221; Model Trains<\/h4>\n<p>The \u201cSnowflake Special\u201d trains will be running every Sunday from 1:00pm\u20134:00pm through February, except on January 1st, 2012, when the museum will be closed for New Year&#8217;s Day.<\/p>\n<h4>\u201cLet\u2019s Find Boats\u201d<\/h4>\n<p><strong>January 11th &amp; 12th, 10:30am\u201311:30am<\/strong><br \/>\nChildren 3 \u2013 5 years old and their grown-ups are invited to explore the museum from a child\u2019s perspective. We will look for boats, read a story, and make a craft. This activity is free to museum members. Non-members pay the regular adult admission of $7.00, plus $2.00 per child. Visit the Dewald Gallery to find our beautiful porcelain Boehm birds; then drop by the Coca Cola Caf\u00e9 to make an eagle, an owl, or other birds to take home. For more information contact Sue Lewis at 931.648.5780.<\/p>\n<h4>Art &amp; Lunch Film: Joan Mitchell: Portrait of An Abstract Painter<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Thursday, January 19th, 12:00pm in the Turner Auditorium<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of the great abstract painters of the 20th century, Mitchell was an active participant of New York&#8217;s dynamic Abstract Expressionist scene. This elegantly edited documentary weaves together interviews with the acerbic Mitchell and other leading painters and critics, while letting her stunning pictures dominate the film. Free Admission. Bagged lunches welcome.
