{"id":938,"date":"2009-03-17T11:26:39","date_gmt":"2009-03-17T16:26:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?p=938"},"modified":"2009-03-17T11:26:39","modified_gmt":"2009-03-17T16:26:39","slug":"st-patricks-day-treat-for-children-green-eggs-and-ham","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/2009\/03\/17\/st-patricks-day-treat-for-children-green-eggs-and-ham\/","title":{"rendered":"St Patrick&#8217;s Day Treat for children: &#8220;Green Eggs and Ham&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-936\" title=\"green-eggs-and-ham\" src=\"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/green-eggs-and-ham-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"green-eggs-and-ham\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/green-eggs-and-ham-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/green-eggs-and-ham.jpeg 437w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Getting creative with food is an excellent way to get your kids to try new things, and it can even make an average meal fun again.<\/p>\n<p>This morning in honor of St. Patrick\u2019s day I made for Elle-Girl <em>\u2018Green Eggs and Ham a-la Sam I Am\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1-2 tablespoons of butter<\/li>\n<li>4 slices of Ham<\/li>\n<li>8 eggs<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons of milk<\/li>\n<li>1-2 drops of green food coloring<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon of salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon of pepper<\/li>\n<li>*chopped green peppers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Melt a teaspoon of butter in your skillet and add a drop of food coloring\u00a0to the butter before adding your ham slices. Add your ham and flip over in butter mixture until coated then let fry until edges are brown. Then remove from skillet and wrap in aluminum foil to keep warm, and set aside.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-937 alignleft\" title=\"green-eggs-and-ham-2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/green-eggs-and-ham-2-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"green-eggs-and-ham-2\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/green-eggs-and-ham-2-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/green-eggs-and-ham-2.jpeg 292w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>In a medium size mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk,green peppers,\u00a0salt and pepper. Whisk until frothy and add drops of green food coloring to egg mixture until the desired shade of green is achieved.<\/p>\n<p>Add a table spoon of butter to your frying pan over medium heat until butter sizzles, then add the egg mixture.<\/p>\n<p>Stir the egg mixture until eggs are firm, or make into an omelet if you like!<\/p>\n<p>Then transfer eggs and ham to plates and dress it up a bit with some fresh orange slices, or buttered toast.<\/p>\n<p>This recipe and other fun games and ideas can be found at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.seussville.com\/\" >www.seussville.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Author\u2019s Note: <\/strong><em>* I modified this recipe to fit the size of my family as well as adding the green peppers for more flavor and texture.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Getting creative with food is an excellent way to get your kids to try new things, and it can even make an average meal fun again.
