Soon, these shoe boxes will be delivered to 8.5 million kids worldwide.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>For families who haven\u2019t yet packed their gift of hope, it\u2019s not too late. Many local families are choosing to pack shoe box gifts virtually through \u201cBuild-a-Box,\u201d an online giving tool. It\u2019s a simple, quick, yet meaningful way to impact a child in need.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers can visit the project\u2019s website at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.samaritanspurse.org\/occ\" >www.samaritanspurse.org\/occ<\/a>, select a child\u2019s age and gender, shop through an online selection of gifts, \u201cpack\u201d them in an empty shoe box, and finish it off with a note of encouragement. Then through tracking technology, donors can &#8220;follow\u201d the box to the destination country where it will be hand-delivered. The \u201cBuild-a-Box\u201d option will be available online until December 31st.<\/p>\n<p>Operation Christmas Child, a project of international Christian relief and evangelism organization Samaritan\u2019s Purse, uses simple gift-filled shoe boxes to let hurting children know they are loved and not forgotten.
