\"LeadershipMurfreesboro, TN<\/strong> – Charlie Koon, Chief of Staff for the City of Clarksville, has been elected President of the 2012 Class of Leadership Middle Tennessee.<\/p>\n

Koon has been committed to serving the area\u2019s residents throughout his career. Before joining the Mayor\u2019s office, he held several positions with Cumberland Bank & Trust and was also the owner of Mary\u2019s Music. His community service includes the Clarksville Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club, United Way, Riverfest Entertainment Committee and Leadership Clarksville.<\/p>\n

He is also a member of the inaugural class of the Transit Citizen Leadership Academy at Lipscomb University. In 2008, Charlie received the Citizen of the Year Award from the City of Clarksville.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not at all surprised that Charlie was selected by his peers to lead this year\u2019s Leadership Middle Tennessee class,\u201d said Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan. \u201cHe has been a dedicated leader his entire life, even before he was a member of the Austin Peay Student Government. Charlie understands the importance of building relationships with leaders in our region and sharing ideas for Clarksville\u2019s continued growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leadership Middle Tennessee seeks to inform and develop regional-based leadership through networking, collaboration and strategic thinking. Leaders from Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Maury, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson counties attend ten sessions addressing current issues in the area\u2019s development. The group will be in Clarksville on November 16th and 17th to discuss education and workforce development.<\/p>\n

About Leadership Middle Tennessee<\/h3>\n

Leadership Middle Tennessee, a regional leadership institute, was founded in 1999 as a result of the Regional Partnerships initiative of Partnership 2000. The initiative was founded in 1994 in direct response to the “lack of a regional agenda” as identified in the Partnership 2000 agenda.<\/p>\n
