\"FortClarksville, TN<\/strong> – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission invites the public to join us at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, Saturday, October 22nd from 10:00am to 5:00pm, to experience the sights and sounds of a Civil War campsite and battlefield.<\/p>\n

All ages are welcome to attend this free event. Visitors can explore the Center, which features several multi-media interpretive exhibits, observe living history stations located around the fort and watch as cannons are fired periodically. Don\u2019t miss the chance to learn about the fascinating chain of events that unfolded on this very site during the Civil War and Reconstruction.<\/p>\n

Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, Clarksville TN.<\/p><\/div>\n

This event is a replication of a camp scene that would have been witnessed at Camp Boone 150 years ago. \u201cCamp Boone was a Confederate basic training site located on Hwy 79 between Clarksville and Guthrie. The 4th Kentucky was one of the units training at Camp Boone and they are being depicted this weekend by the 4th Kentucky reenacting regiment. This regiment contains actual descendants from members of the original 4th Kentucky,\u201d said William Parker, Fort Defiance Interpreter.<\/p>\n

\"Clarksville<\/a>

Clarksville Foundry produced a replica of an 1841 six-pounder cannon now installed at Fort Defiance Civil War Park.<\/p><\/div>\n

Only residents and those with handicap placards will be allowed to access Duncan Street. Because of limited parking, all visitors to this event must park at the Two Rivers Business Center, at 690 Riverside Drive (old Convergys lot), then ride a bus to the park; a special needs bus will also be available. The bus service will begin 15 minutes prior to the event\u2019s start time and run continuously every 15 minutes until the end of the event. Last shuttle will run 15 minutes after the conclusion.<\/p>\n
