This topic will be the focus of the next session of the Provost Lecture Series at Austin Peay State University.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Korre Foster, assistant professor of music, will present \u201cThe Choral Music of Alfreds Feils\u201d from 3:00pm-4:30pm, Thursday, October 13th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. All presentations in the Provost Lecture Series are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_91883\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Korre-Foster1.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-91883\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-91883\" title=\"Dr. Korre Foster\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Korre-Foster1-480x360.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Korre Foster\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-91883\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Korre Foster<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->This past July, Foster traveled to the capital city of Riga to locate library manuscripts of Feils\u2019 music, interview the composer\u2019s daughter and research biographical details of his life.<\/p>\n<p>Foster is in his third year as director of choral activities at APSU. He graduated in 2009 from the University of Miami (FL) with a D.M.A. in choral conducting. His primary research interests include the influence of rhetoric in music composition, choral music set to texts of Walt Whitman, and the French Baroque music of Marc-Antoine Charpentier.<\/p>\n<p>Other sessions in the Provost Lecture Series also are planned for the academic year. The program will be used as a platform for APSU faculty members who are recent recipients of provost summer grants, who have been awarded faculty development leaves and who have engaged in recent scholarly inquiry during sabbatical leaves.<\/p>\n<p>APSU faculty members with recent research of acclaim also will be given a platform within this series.
