\"MontgomeryMontgomery County, TN<\/strong> – Montgomery County was recently honored with an Award from Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) for \u201cEnergy Conversation and Resource Protection\u201d.<\/p>\n

The City of Clarksville and Montgomery County Government have worked together with leadership from several area businesses to establish the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program (CMCGCP).<\/p>\n

The idea for the Green Certification Program came from a Leadership Clarksville project of the 2010 class.<\/p>\n

Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers, Facilities Development Director Clint Camp, Green Certification Program Coordinator Michelle Newell, Bi-County Assistant Director of Administration & Education Mary Anderson, GNRC President and Mayor of Portland Ken Wilber, and Director of Administration Phil Harpel.<\/p><\/div>\n

Following the structure of the Leadership Clarksville project model, Montgomery County hired a program manager who has worked with local environmental professionals to develop a series of workshops. The workshops are designed to demonstrate best practices in environmental stewardship, in an effort to sustain our community\u2019s natural resources and save taxpayer dollars.<\/p>\n

Several area businesses, as well as city and county departments, have completed the workshops. We continue to offer workshops and have many participants in the current session or scheduled for upcoming sessions.<\/p>\n
