\"TheMontgomery County, TN<\/strong> – Clarksville Montgomery County School System’s Chief Academic Officer Dr. B.J. Worthington was named Tennessee Supervisor of the Year Monday night during the state Department of Education’s annual Leadership Conference in Nashville.<\/p>\n

Dr. B.J. Worthington<\/p><\/div>\n

Worthington has been in his current position for 10 years. He previously served as principal at Rossview High, Clarksville High and Montgomery Central Middle schools. He has been an administrator and teacher in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System since 1986.<\/p>\n

He currently serves as president of the Mid-Cumberland Supervisors Study Council. He has presented at numerous state and national conferences. He earned his doctor of education degree from Tennessee State University, and his education specialist and master’s degrees from Austin Peay. He earned a B.S. in secondary education from Tennessee Technological University.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, several CMCSS administrators presented at the 2011 Tennessee LEAD Conference, September 19th-21st at the Nashville Convention Center.<\/p>\n

This session will provide NEW system testing coordinators with useful information to assist with successful test administration. In addition, the session will include tips of the trade from experienced test coordinators. Participants will have the opportunity to network with others new to district-level test coordination.<\/p>\n

This presentation tells the story of how Clarksville Montgomery County Schools is strategically implementing STEM education in all schools in the district. Integration of math and science instruction, establishing a STEM Academy, using the engineering design process, and assuring teacher collaboration are addressed. Potential barriers to implementation are discussed and solutions to those barriers suggested. This session is valuable to school and district leaders who are interested in implementing STEM education.<\/p>\n

School administrators will learn effective strategies based on key learnings from the Mid-Content Research for Education and Learning Balanced Leadership Framework for improving both classroom and school-level practices in support of improved student achievement as well as practical ways for translating these strategies into real world application. By examining data related to the learning environment, curriculum and instructional quality, school leaders will be able to identify areas for improvement and celebration in classroom and school leaders will be able to identify areas for improvement and celebration in classroom and school-level practices and develop an action plan designed to help them sustain a relentless focus on improving student achievement.<\/p>\n
