And the process of reading on a computer screen can be different \u2013 an aspect that a veteran Austin Peay State University professor will address.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Donald Luck, a professor of education who has taught at APSU for 18 years, will present the next session in the weekly Provost Lecture Series at 3:00pm, Thursday, September 15th in the Morgan University Center, Room 307. The title of his presentation is &#8220;Reading in the Web Environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_89063\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/DrLuck2.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-89063\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-89063\" title=\"Dr. Donald Luck\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/DrLuck2-480x360.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Donald Luck\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-89063\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Donald Luck<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->\u201cMy lecture deals with my research on the process of reading online, how reading differs from print to screen and strategies for improving the screen reading experience,\u201d Luck said. \u201cThese strategies will be demonstrated and attendees are encouraged to bring laptops and tablets to implement these strategies and improve their own screen reading experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Luck has been involved in implementing technology in schools since having first used a computer in his classroom in 1979. His doctoral research was one of the first research projects to investigate the effect of email on classroom teachers and their communication satisfaction. He currently teaches courses in the instructional technology specialty area of the curriculum and instruction master\u2019s degree program at APSU. He is associate editor of the SRATE Journal and current president of the National Social Science Association.<\/p>\n<p>He has a bachelor\u2019s in history from Wartburg College, and he earned both his doctorate in curriculum and instruction and master\u2019s in secondary administration from the University of Northern Iowa.<\/p>\n<p>Other sessions in the Provost Lecture Series also are planned for the academic year. The program will be used as a platform for APSU faculty members who are recent recipients of provost summer grants, who have been awarded faculty development leaves and who have engaged in recent scholarly inquiry during sabbatical leaves.<\/p>\n<p>APSU faculty members with recent research of acclaim also will be given a platform within this series.
