The boats racing down the Cumberland River Saturday morning, September 10th, will be made of cardboard and a few other approved materials. Not only will teams be racing for bragging rights, but trophies will also be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place teams in each division. Even Mayor Kim McMillan will be getting in on the action and will compete in a cardboard boat constructed by a City Hall team.<\/p>\n<p>Register by September 7th to compete in one of the following divisions: Adult Open, Business and Industry, Church\/Civic, City Department and Military. If you think you have what it takes, pick up an application form today at any Clarksville location of US Bank, the Parks &amp; Recreation office, or visit <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleriverfest.com\/\" >www.clarksvilleriverfest.com<\/a> to print out one.<\/p>\n<h3>Time is running out- vote now!<\/h3>\n<p>Come down to Public Square each Saturday from 8:00am to 1:00pm for the Clarksville Downtown Market. After visiting, be sure to go to <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.farmland.org\/vote\" >www.farmland.org\/vote<\/a> to cast your vote for Clarksville\u2019s Downtown Market as \u201cAmerica\u2019s Favorite Farmers Markets.\u201d The contest ends August 31st!<\/p>\n<h3>Movies in the Park \u2013 Double Feature<\/h3>\n<p>Join us for the next Movies in the Park event and first-ever double feature this Friday, September 2nd, at Heritage Park Soccer Fields. The event will feature two hit movies, \u201cTwilight\u201d and \u201cEclipse\u201d. All movies start at dusk, and pre-show activities begin an hour prior. Admission is free.<\/p>\n<h3>Quilting classes to begin<\/h3>\n<p>Come learn the basic skills of quilt making every first and third Monday at Kleeman Community Center, beginning September 19th. Classes are held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and are free. A community center ID card is required, and you must bring your own sewing machine. Ten people is the maximum per class, so register now by visiting our new online registration site, recpro.cityofclarksville.com, search course number. 1505.<\/p>\n<h3>Youth Volleyball<\/h3>\n<p>Youth, ages 17 and under, can now learn the basics of volleyball at Burt-Cobb Community Center every Wednesday from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. This free program is part of the center\u2019s after-school program and is open to the public. A community center ID card is required. Register today at recpro.cityofclarksville.com, course number 1352.<\/p>\n<h3>Stroller Time makes a return to the Clarksville Greenway<\/h3>\n<p>Calling all parents and children! Join us every Tuesday morning from 8:00am to 9:00am at the Clarksville Greenway for \u201cstroller time.\u201d This free program allows for interactions while exercising in a beautiful environment. Stroller time will meet at the Pollard Road trailhead, located at 1101 Pollard Road, for five weeks beginning September 20th.<\/p>\n<h3>Introducing, the new \u201cScan &amp; Swim\u201d tag<\/h3>\n<p>The Indoor Aquatic Center at New Providence will open for the season on October 1st. This year, swimmers not only have the option of buying a pool pass, but can also purchase the new \u201cScan &amp; Swim\u201d tag that can be used for admission to the pool or specialty classes offered at the Center.<\/p>\n<p>Scan &amp; Swim Tags can be purchased now at the Parks &amp; Recreation Main office in increments of $30.00, $60.00 or $90.00.
