The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.<\/p>\n<p>Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming events include: Whats&#8217; in Swan Lake?, Nature Art, Bats And Cave Salamanders, Night Flight and so much more!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the deadline listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline are canceled.<\/p>\n<p>All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.<\/p>\n<p>Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children). The age limits are definite \u2013 please do not sign up a child who is too young or too old for the program. Call 931.648.5526 for reservations.<\/p>\n<h3>Thursday, August 18th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Nature Readings &#8211; Friends<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 3:00pm \u2013 3:30pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 3 \u2013 8<\/p>\n<p>We will sit at the cool cave entrance and learn about nature friends through fun books.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist<br \/>\n<strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 16th.<\/p>\n<h3>Friday, August 19th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Nature Art<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 9:00am \u2013 10:00am<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 4-8<\/p>\n<p>Meet at the cool cave entrance and make art about nature, using natural materials.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist<br \/>\n<strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 17th.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s In Swan Lake?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 6:30pm \u2013 7:30pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 6 \u2013 adult<\/p>\n<p>Walk around the lake and look for beaver, muskrat, dragonflies and other creatures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Park Ranger<br \/>\n<strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 17th.<\/p>\n<h3>Saturday, August 20th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Fun With Bats<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 10:00am \u2013 11:00am<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 5 &#8211; 11<\/p>\n<p>Learn about the fun furry creatures that sleep in the cave and fly around at night.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Park Ranger<br \/>\n<strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 18th.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Native American Artifacts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 2:00pm \u2013 3:00pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 6-12<\/p>\n<p>Long ago Native Americans lived in what is now Tennessee.
