{"id":7311,"date":"2011-07-19T19:58:09","date_gmt":"2011-07-20T00:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?p=7311"},"modified":"2011-07-19T19:58:09","modified_gmt":"2011-07-20T00:58:09","slug":"mayor-kim-mcmillan-to-announce-fitness-council-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/2011\/07\/19\/mayor-kim-mcmillan-to-announce-fitness-council-members\/","title":{"rendered":"Mayor Kim McMillan to Announce Fitness Council Members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-13405\" title=\"City of Clarksville\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/clarksville-logo-rgb-450x174.jpg\" alt=\"City of Clarksville\" width=\"243\" height=\"94\" \/><strong>Clarksville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will announce members of the Mayor\u2019s Fitness Council at a July fitness event at 5:00pm Wednesday at Smith Pool.<\/p>\n<p>Following the City Council\u2019s approval on July 7th to establish the Fitness Council, McMillan will appoint the members to the new board, which will take a pro-active, multi-faceted approach to helping residents achieve and maintain a healthier lifestyle via education, becoming more active and proper nutrition.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Mayor\u2019s Fitness Council also will help bring together various groups, organizations and agencies that promote health and fitness in our community to create a more consolidated effort and approach to address the challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement will come in conjunction with the July Mayor\u2019s fitness event, during which the Mayor will join a Water Aerobics class at Smith Pool, 742 Greenwood Avenue. Water Aerobics classes meet at each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5:00pm at Smith Pool and at 6:00pm at New Providence Pool. The Clarksville Parks &amp; Recreation class is aimed at improving tone, strength and mobility for participants. The main advantage of exercising in the water is that it offers resistance in all directions.<\/p>\n<p>Cost is $2.00 per class with a pool pass or $4.00 without pass.<\/p>\n<p>The public is invited to join the Mayor at Smith Pool for the July fitness activity.
