Most recently, he created the Maynard Family Endowment Scholarship, which provides financial assistance annually to a student from Montgomery County pursing a business degree at APSU.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_76110\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Regents-Award.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-76110\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-76110\" title=\"APSU President Tim Hall, local businessman James Maynard and TBR Chancellor John Morgan. (Photo by Bill Persinger\/APSU Public Relations and Marketing)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->Shortly after graduating from APSU, at the age of 22, Maynard began an impressive entrepreneurial career by opening the Sportsman\u2019s Store on Cumberland Drive. He later sold that business and joined his family in operating a Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Opel dealership at the corner of College and Ninth streets. In the late 1970s, he sold his part of the dealership and started building apartments and homes through Maynard Construction Inc.<\/p>\n<p>In 1965, James married Betty Doane, and three of their children \u2013 Jim Maynard, William Maynard and Courtney Caudill \u2013 are all deeply involved with the family business.
