\"ClarksvilleClarksville, TN<\/strong> – It\u2019s that time of year again to lace up those running shoes and begin preparing for the 33rd Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Sunday, May 1st.<\/p>\n

The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University\u2019s Governors Stadium, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus. Despite record-breaking rainfall during last year\u2019s race, hundreds of Clarksville-Montgomery County and Fort Campbell school students, teachers and family members participated.
\n<\/p>\n

Groups, businesses and organizations have an opportunity for team-building by participating in the Wilma Rudolph 5K Relay Race. The relay commemorates the achievements of one of Clarksville\u2019s most celebrated natives, Wilma Rudolph, who defied great odds to become an Olympic champion in the 1950s and \u201860s. Rudolph overcame many adversities in her life and is best known in the athletic world for being the first woman to win three Gold Medals in a single Olympics. 5K Relay teams will consist of four runners completing in four sections of the course.<\/p>\n

The Queen City Road Race is not just a running competition; it is a promotion for fitness and health in the Clarksville community. Like last year, the Queen City Road Race will include a noncompetitive, one-mile event. Participants can complete the mile at any speed or rate they choose. It doesn\u2019t matter if you run, walk or skip the mile; just as long as you are up and moving!<\/p>\n

\"33rd<\/a>Registration for the Queen City Road Race is simple. Those registering in the 5K have the option to register online or in person. There is no extra fee to register online for the 5K race. Register now to receive the \u201cearly bird\u201d rate of only $20.00 through April 22nd. After that date, you may register until the day of the race, but the cost is $25.00. Participants in the Wilma Rudolph 5K Relay and One Mile Movement can register by mail or in person at the Clarksville Parks and Recreation office at 102 Public Square, Clarksville, Tennessee, 37040. All entries for the Wilma Rudolph 5K must be received no later than April 22nd.<\/p>\n

The 33rd Annual Queen City Road Race is presented by the City of Clarksville and Cumberland Bank and Trust and is co-sponsored by Austin Peay State University, the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, Tennessee Coordinated School Health, The Leaf-Chronicle, Q-108, The Beaver 100.3 FM, Eagle 94.3 FM, Sports Radio 540 The Fan, Z 97.5 FM, and Lamar Advertising.<\/p>\n
