In addition, the softball field will be named in honor of Cheryl Holt, a longtime coach and assistant athletic director at APSU.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-65865\" title=\"Women in Athletics\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/Women-in-Athletics.jpg\" alt=\"Women in Athletics\" width=\"384\" height=\"362\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Each year, the Women in Athletics event will focus specifically on one sport and\/or milestone. The goal is to celebrate women\u2019s achievements in athletics and raise money for the women\u2019s athletic programs.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event is co-chaired by APSU alumnae Susan Cole (\u201986), who starred on the first Lady Govs softball team and was on the basketball team, and Nancy Howell (\u201970), a tennis player for the Lady Govs.<\/p>\n<h3>The schedule includes a number of activities April 8th-9th:<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Celebration of Women\u2019s Athletics dinner<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>6:30pm, Friday, April 8th, floor of the Dunn Center<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The dinner will feature guest speaker Lin Dunn, current WNBA head coach of the Indiana Fever and former APSU head coach of women\u2019s basketball, volleyball and tennis from 1970-77. APSU coaches, staff, former players, Hall of Famers and Governors fans and supporters are invited. Limited space is available, and reservations are required. Tickets are $40.00 per person, $75.00 per couple. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 931-221-7761.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Walk to Celebrate Women<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>9:00am, Saturday, April 9th, begin and end on Drane Street next to the Dunn Center<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Individuals and teams are invited to walk around the APSU campus to help raise awareness and funds for APSU women\u2019s athletic programs. Fun walk T-shirts will be given to those who preregister. Check-in is at 8:30am. For more information or to register, call 931-221-7024 or 931-221-7615.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tailgate Brunch<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>10:30am, Saturday, April 9th, softball field<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prior to the Lady Govs softball doubleheader, a tent will be set up for APSU fans. Drinks and light refreshments will be served. Tickets are $5.00 and will be available at the tent prior to the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Softball field naming and 25th Anniversary Celebration<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>12:30pm, Saturday, April 9th, Softball Field<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The softball field will be named in honor of Cheryl Holt, a longtime coach and assistant athletic director at APSU.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lady Govs softball against OVC rival Murray State in doubleheader<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>1:00pm, Saturday, April 9th, Cheryl Holt Softball Field<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with the weekend events, the Women\u2019s Athletic Endowment to support financially women\u2019s athletics at APSU will be launched.
