She will make appearances at the local schools, speaking to students about how honeybee pollination creates the building blocks of our food supply.<\/p>\n<p>She will also speak to area Girl Scout troops where she will share information about the many uses for helpful and wholesome honey, including the beauty secrets provided by bees. Her visit will also include speeches to the Clarksville Sunrise Rotary and the Montgomery County Beekeepers Association.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Lisa is the 20-year-old daughter of Mike and Roberta Schluttenhofer of Thorntown, IN. She is a junior at Purdue University where she is majoring in Agricultural Communication. At Purdue, she is active in the College of Agriculture Dean\u2019s Scholars Program and activities at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. She has been a beekeeper for eight years.<\/p>\n<p>As the 2010 American Honey Queen, Lisa serves as a national spokesperson on behalf of the American Beekeeping Federation, a trade organization representing beekeepers and honey producers throughout the United States.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_52992\" style=\"width: 176px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-52992\" class=\"size-full wp-image-52992\" title=\"2010 American Honey Queen - Lisa Schluttenhofer\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/2010-American-Honey-Queen-Lisa-Schluttenhofer.jpg\" alt=\"2010 American Honey Queen - Lisa Schluttenhofer\" width=\"166\" height=\"250\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-52992\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">2010 American Honey Queen - Lisa Schluttenhofer<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Honey Queen and Princess speak and promote in venues nationwide, and, as such Queen Lisa will travel throughout the United States during her year-long reign. Prior to being selected as the American Honey Queen, Lisa served as the 2009 Indiana Honey Queen. In this role, she promoted the honey industry at fairs, festivals, and farmers\u2019 markets, via television and radio interviews, and in schools.<\/p>\n<p>The beekeeping industry touches the lives of every individual in our country. In fact, honeybees are responsible for nearly one-third of our entire diet, due to the pollination services that they provide for a large majority of fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes.
