The &#8220;Walk with Me Tennessee&#8221; program strives to increase awareness of alternate transportation in order to improve the health of Tennesseans, reduce environmental impacts and help citizens save money in fuel costs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-48721\" title=\"Walk with Me Tennessee\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/walk-with-me-tennessee-200x128.jpg\" alt=\"Walk with Me Tennessee\" width=\"200\" height=\"128\" \/>&#8220;We congratulate Clarksville for qualifying as a \u2018Walk with Me Tennessee&#8217; community,&#8221; said Gerald Parish, Acting Director of the TDEC Division of Recreation Educational Services. &#8220;This program was created to help communities maximize their existing outdoor resources and plan for future recreational infrastructure with the goal of increasing quality of life for residents.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWalk with Me Tennessee\u201d is an assessment tool for cities and counties that focuses on a variety of aspects, including: planning, health and fitness opportunities, infrastructure, connecting community areas and safety. It ranks the community\u2019s walkability, and provides pertinent planning information to help communities increase their pedestrian friendliness.<\/p>\n<p>Clarksville, through assessing city demographics, planning resources and connections, has met the criteria for a \u201cWalk with Me Tennessee\u201d community.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cWalk with Me Tennessee\u201d program is administered by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation\u2019s Division of Recreation Educational Services.
