{"id":40,"date":"2008-12-08T16:37:57","date_gmt":"2008-12-08T22:37:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?p=40"},"modified":"2009-02-05T13:49:13","modified_gmt":"2009-02-05T19:49:13","slug":"winter-programs-available-at-clarksville-community-centers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/2008\/12\/08\/winter-programs-available-at-clarksville-community-centers\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter programs available at Clarksville community centers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--content with more link--><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/clarksvilletn.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1690\" title=\"The City of Clarksville, Tennessee\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/clarksvilletn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"193\" height=\"121\" \/><\/a>If you are planning to visit the Christmas on the Cumberland lighting display this coming weekend, please be aware that Santa is not scheduled this weekend.\u00a0 Christmas on the Cumberland will be open nightly, Sunday through Thursday from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday through January 1st.\u00a0 Santa is scheduled to return December 19th-21st.<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of things happening in the Community Centers this season.<\/p>\n<p>Open Volleyball is at the Kleeman Community Center at 166 Cunningham Lane, on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.\u00a0 Everyone is welcome to come out and join us.\u00a0 You only need to purchase an annual ID card for $5 to participate.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Senior Hour is also featured at the Kleeman Center on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.\u00a0 Seniors ages 50 + can enjoy indoor walking, table tennis, racquetball, basketball and use of the weight room without interruption.<\/p>\n<p>The Kids on Crafts after school program will be at the Crow Community Center this week.\u00a0 On Tuesday, December 9th, we will be making special Mosaic gifts for Mom and Dad from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.\u00a0 The craft class is free however limited to the first 12 students\u2019 ages 7 to 17 that enter.\u00a0 This project will be rather lengthy and will continue on Thursday, December 11th at the same time.\u00a0 The Crow Center is located at 211 Richview Road and a center ID card is required to enter the class.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy working out without a big crowd around?\u00a0\u00a0 Well, the Burt-Cobb Community Center at 1011 Franklin Street is available for your workout convenience on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.\u00a0 You can be sure that the weight room, racquetball and basketball courts are free from crowds at that time.\u00a0 Also, walkers who need a great indoor facility are welcomed!<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Christmas parties are scheduled at all of our community centers this year at no cost other than the $5.00 Center ID Card.\u00a0 There will be lots of games, surprise visits from Santa and holiday treats served at each location.<\/p>\n<p>The Burt-Cobb Community Center will kick off the holiday with their party on Tuesday, December 16th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.\u00a0 Santa is scheduled to arrive at 6:30 p.m. with Karaoke fun for all.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, December 18th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., the Crow Community Center will host their family Christmas party for those who will join them.\u00a0 Santa is also expected at this facility for parents to take pictures of their little tots on his lap.<\/p>\n<p>And the Kleeman Community Center will host their Christmas party on Friday, December 19th from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.\u00a0 Santa should make his appearance sometime during the party.<\/p>\n<p>Winter Gym is still on going this week at Byrns-Darden Elementary School from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Monday\u2019s, Tuesday\u2019s and Wednesday\u2019s. You must be 13 years or older to use the facility but children under 13 years are welcome with adult supervision.
