Last year, more than 5,000 participants in 35 states and four countries ran a combined total of more than 31,000 miles.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to participate in Run for the Fallen,\u201d said Lady Govs junior libero Paige Economos. \u201cIt\u2019s a great opportunity to show the Fort Campbell community our support. The military is an important part of the Clarksville community and it is important to support it when we can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event has special meaning to Lady Govs head coach Haley Janicek, whose brother Cole was killed in action while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Also, her husband Matt is currently serving overseas. She will participate in this year\u2019s event at Fort Campbell with her mother, Christi, and the Lady Govs volleyball team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are honored to participate in this year\u2019s Run for the Fallen event,\u201d said Janicek. \u201cThese soldiers and their families have given the ultimate sacrifice and have ensured our freedom, which ultimately allows us to compete in the sport we love. Over the years, Austin Peay has enjoyed an outpouring of support from Fort Campbell and the soldiers that are a part of our community.
